I've played about half the game so far, and I've been having a really great time with it. I've already recommended it to a few of my friends who have Switches, and would definitely recommend it to anyone else.
One particular moment I had with it stands out as probably the hardest I've laughed at a video game in a long time. I was playing the first Toad escort challenge from World 1, the one where Toad starts out surrounded by enemies. I figured I'd take one of them out with Rabbid Peach to give Toad a bit more movement, only for the Push chance from her weapon to activate and send the enemy careening into Toad like a cannonball. Toad was sent flying and screaming off the stage, and I had to put the controller down for a minute or two because I was laughing so hard I was afraid of pressing wrong buttons by accident.
There was also the challenge where you have to kill 5 Pirabbid Plants with the aid of Chain Chomps. I ended up winning that challenge when one Pirabbid Plant killed his ally with the same attack that killed my last team member. I finished the challenge with my whole team down, but apparently that's good enough.
Honestly, I think this might be one of the most surprising games I've ever played. When the details of it were first leaked months ago I was fully ready for it to be one of the least interesting games of the year - not a bad game necessarily (though I wasn't expecting it to be particularly good), just one not worth caring about one way or the other. Then at E3 it turned out to be interesting, then at launch it turned out to be good, then while I was playing it turned out to be funny, and after I made a certain amount of progress it turned out to be hard. I never expected it to be any of those things, but life surprises you like that sometimes.
