Referring to people without pinging them

The 420 character limit on profile posts makes it hard to talk about things in any kind of detail. I'm not opposed to the limit but making it 500 or 600 would make it a lot easier

(also make it possible to link to messages on profiles? I want to put a link to the angle shooter thing on @ Grushi's profile but I can't)

You can always just use their name, then link to their profile with the link tool. Like so: youre_a_squib_now
