Save Scumming Splatfest Power

So I figured this probably needed to be talked about. The fact that you can save scum to make sure your splatfest power only goes up. I personally confirmed that it can be done and that the splatnet read out will match the scummed value.

That kind of makes splatfest power a cheat to win kind of game, because if 100 people cheat there way to the top there really isn't any way for legitimate scores to get on the board. That is unless you can win every single game of turf war consistently.

Either Nintendo or the fanbase would notice this and deal with it accordingly. It's exceedingly pointless, and a waste of time that could be spent splatting in that 24 hours.

You don't think 100 people are going to do it to get on the list?

The point is the top 100 is meaningless, especially towards the end of the splatfest.

Also, I think you over estimate the importance of ranked save scumming. Anyone who save scums there way to S+ isn't going to play solo queue, and who cares what happens in squad battles?

Not sure how you're disagreeing with me. Who cares about the top 100? If jagoffs exploit it Nintendo will either change it or take it away. It's a moronic waste of time to save scum for that purpose.

And I care about squad battles, thank you very much, but you completely missed my point anyway. Save scumming ranked does SOMETHING. It has a quantifiable result on the game. Save scumming splatfest power... does not. It means the player might get their name on a list that will quickly be forgotten. What's the point?

I am with Dessgeega here (not really sure how their posts come as trolling). Save scumming for some pointless temporary sort-of rank is, as they said, "moronic waste of time". If people have time to waste on that, then that is their problem. It doesn't affect me in any possible way.

Also, from my experience with the smash/squidboards forums, calling someone else stupid might not end well for you.

save scummers affect me when i have a guy who doesn't care on my team it drops my rank that's for sure and as far as spaltfest scumming its just wrong i hope they fix it..............

I will say this, i do not think it works exactly.
I did a backup save for when I was done with snowman and used the backup for sandcastles. It would not read my sandcastle power till after then thing ended and it was less then what I had.

Regardless even if it did work it would cost way too much effin time to do unless you are doing to to say override 10 losing streaks. In any case there is enough rank scummers and people being carried that it makes it kinda pointless because if you have to do that to begin with, chances are you do not have the skill to win enough to make it time effective.

yes rank scumming is the bigger issue and does transfer in splatfests, that is the big problem that needs adressing and squad carries

the Splatfest Top 100 is just people you have added as a friend its not the same for everybody I don't see a problem its not like its a worldwide leaderboard

The people you see on the Splatnet app are not the top 100. I'm using my Wii U so I can't link a picture, but the top 100 is an actual list from Nintendo of the players that had the highest splatfest powers on both teams (It was posted in the Splatfest thread). The top players had around 2000 points.

Yeah I'm not even sure if the power rating affects splatfest that much anyway. It really just seems like its just a matchmaking system. Unless we find that the power ranking does affect the winner of splatfest, there's no reason to save scum.

Err there is a big point being missed here...

did anyone even try it? it does not even work well on top of things, like i had 1550 on sandcastle, 1650 ending (i got up to 1713 or so max) and my final ranking was 1623.

Do players view save scumming as a foul in regards to sportsmanship? Yes, many express that.

But to some of us, it pales in comparison to save scumming ranked matches. And it even rates a lower concern compared to unskilled players being carried by sled dogs to higher ranks. Those are fouls that disrupt the game and the play of others.

It's appreciated that you've brought this up, but the benefits of save scumming during splatfest feel so temporary as to not matter. Whereas carrying and save scumming in ranked mode have ongoing, harmful benefits.

That is what @Dessgeega and others like myself are viewing (correct me if I'm wrong). Unless you can convince anyone otherwise that splatfest save scumming is a harsher foul, it amounts to swiping a piece of candy compared to swiping money from the register.

if someone is B skill (1200?) in rank but savescum to s they start in 1600, end up getting teamed with me, and then have me have a headache for 3 minutes because they are making so bad judgment I rather put my head though a wall and it would be a less headache. IF Nintendo did not allow savescum/carry and started at 1200 and they try "savescum" for splatfest IT WOULD NOT BE A REAL ISSUE because they would not have the SKILL to pull off a high score in time. WE NEED TO DEAL WITH RANK CHEATING and dealing with that solves the splatfest problems. I think as others point out, seakingtheonixpected is missing big picture.

If nintedo fixes RANK savescum, then the ripple effect will go to splatfests and be more enjoyable. AFTER taking care of the rank issue, THEN we can see if splatfest scumming is an issue. You can't have 2 issues and try to pin the result of blame on only 1 issue.

You are correct. If rank scumming was ever fixed, one problem would solve the other. Scumming DURING the splatfest benefits no one, not even the scummer. Scumming in regular ranked? THERE'S the issue.
