Splatoons Miiverse community.. I think I figured it out

Tell me about it. I'm a pretty good artist (as you can see by the image in my sig, as well as my Miiverse profile), but I only have about 20 followers on Miiverse by the time of this post, and not only do I not get much "Yeahs", one of my highly "Yeahed" posts is a comment, not a drawing. This especially goes for when I post in the day, when everyone in the Americas is up. Miiverse logic is weird.

This especially goes for when I post in the day, when everyone in the Americas is up. Miiverse logic is weird.

I know, Its strange, I have like 146 followers, the majority of whom came out of nowhere. I think once I started playing splatoon I got like 70 followers which is weird because I just posted in the community a day ago.

just got its 50th yeah after a month...
but the crap I slap together in 5 minutes gets 120 yeahs in 4 hours??? 0 - 0 why?

Since the Miiverse redesign, it's become much tougher to get noticed. The drawing posts are no longer front-and-centre in the Miiverse community, so there are fewer people browsing it and fewer posts getting the "yeah"s required to show up in people's plazas.

Once you gain the popularity necessary to show up in the plaza, you're pretty much guaranteed 80+ yeahs (if your drawing is good). It can just be tricky getting there.

Seriously, the Miiverse staff had no reason to do the redesign other than "you're doing it wrong, so here's an incentive that won't work because you are making it less enjoyable for people who want to talk about games even though we have no evidence of such complaints". Really, any followers I get nowadays are because of my drawings in the comments sections of other good drawers, and not because of my main drawing posts, where I work the hardest.

There is a lot of rubbish on Miiverse, and a fair amount of stuff that isn't 100% kid-friendly. The redesign makes it so that the first thing you see when you open a community is the top-rated content, which makes it a more pleasant experience for casual users who just want to see some cool posts, and the kids who are less likely to stumble across a drawing of a willy.

Unless when the willy gets a bunch of yeahs, (seriously, I see Callie and Marie in bikinis, complete with white ink jokes, all the time on the front page), then the system fails.

My main problem with the update however is one nobody talks about, the fact that only 1 discussion can be open at a time, across all of Miiverse. I like to talk about games, which is what Miiverse is for and what supposedly the update makes easier to do, and it has that "feature"... NintyPlz

then I went playing as many people as possible. I had a theory that people you play against often show up in your plaza, so if you play alot of people your drawing will most likely show up in said plaza. this was what had initially happened with the Samus drawing. I played both normal matches and ranked matches that day exposing myself to atleast 100 players.
So last night I tried duplicating that formula and BAM

the other drawing all were done either out of game or after a play session. So I guess if you want some easy Yeahs heres a strategy.

Yeah I figured the more matches you do during times when people from the same region (Some miiverse communities are separated by region) you will get more likes. The game also sees your post as kind of 'trending' so it will throw it into other plazas even if you didn't play them. It's a snowball effect. Speaking of which I saw your drawing in my plaza and gave it a +Yeah the other day. Nice work.
