As someone who's mained the Sploosh since its release, I have pretty low expectations for this thing. The Sploosh itself has terrible range and a crazy fast kill speed, which make it specialise in playing in back routes and ambushing. Its loadout compliments this playstyle by letting it provide support from areas away from the front lines.

The Neo Sploosh on the other hand gives you a sub that doesn't deal any damage and alerts your opponent to your presence and a special that results in the Sploosh having no options to combat distant foes with whatsoever (not to mention the Kraken recently got nerfed again).

It doesn't strike me as a weapon that addresses the Sploosh's weaknesses and in fact takes away from its strengths too.

I think that everyone can see Squid Beacons in the gamepad, but I haven't been able to confirm if there's any requirements for them to appear o_O

The neo sploosh comes with point sensors and kraken. So I believe above is talking about the sound and 'explosion' that point sensors do that would alert the enemy your near by. Hitting someone with a point sensor is gonna put them on alert more anyways and you want to sneak up on them with the sploosh so yea.
This kit is better on the Heavy splatling.

I mained the Sploosh for a while, and I still use it in turf wars, I think this will be very useful. I never used squid beacons much (I never know where to put them), and the Kraken will be much more useful than the Killer Wail IMO. There's always that time where I couldn't hide well enough, and I'd get splatted before I could run. Now with the Kraken, I can either fight back or get away. I don't think the nerf hurt the Kraken too much, I mean, I still can't hit it enough to keep from getting splatted. Overall, I'd say this is a great set and I'm glad it's finally here (I've had enough of new blasters, bring on the Sploosh!)

Exactly. You're not going to put a Beakon right near somebody and after you place it you'll be long gone by the time someone reaches your Beakon (so the "last I checked people can see your Beakons on the Gamepad" argument really doesn't mean anything in practice). Point Sensors force you to engage opponents and as I said before, they can't hurt anyone. As a Sploosh you'll only want to engage someone if you are certain that you can take them out immediately.

Literally anything is better than Beakons. As far as being proactive, the Point Sensor is a HUGE upgrade.

The original Sploosh has no business with long range opponents anyway. The Kraken amplifies its core strength: being close and being scary. Not sure why you think this kit makes it weaker.

The Sploosh is a stealth weapon. The Neo Sploosh's kit is more fitted for being out in the open, which is not where the Sploosh wants to be. There's really not many other ways I can say this. If they really wanted the Sploosh to combat people out in the open, they'd give it some bombs, a Splash Wall or more range. The last one of those would make it not a Sploosh anymore.

The Sploosh isn't designed for taking on long-range opponents, I agree. But having no tools to even so much as scare them away means you're at a serious, hard-counter level of disadvantage against them. Once again, the Neo's kit is more designed for being out in the middle of the field, where long-range weapons will own a weapon like the Sploosh. A jack of all trades, master of none never ends up being the best weapon/character/class/whatever in a competitive game (not like the Sploosh is one anyway lol), but a little versatility is always nice. It's about options, something I speculate the Neo will lack.

If the Neo ends up being the better of two, then that's whatever. This is all speculation on my part anyway.

Oh and I fail to see how the Point Sensor amplifies this:

being close and being scary
They do the exact opposite by making you stop at mid-range to chuck one and then becoming un-scary because you just blew your cover. Kraken may be the better special for the Sploosh (though I'd be more inclined to believe that if they gave the Neo Sploosh a bomb), but when I say the Neo looks to have a weaker kit, I mean both the sub and the special.

I'll bring this thing up to 10k turf inked, but can't see myself using it beyond that. When I want to use a run and gun weapon with an invincibility special, the L3D is who I turn to!

I mean if you're into the Nozzlenoses you already have... uhm, unique tastes and there's little helping you. :p

The Sploosh is never going to be a frontline-man and the Point Sensor shouldn't change that. I doubt it'll suddenly encourage out-and-open play. Your other option is going back to passively placing Beakons around. You're never forced to use the sub and reveal yourself in tight situations. (Not like Beakons helped in that situation either? Again, not seeing how this different option makes it inferior.) If a Sploosh takes this sub as an excuse to be on the front lines, I see this as player error and not an inherent problem with the kit.

Not to say the sub matters all that much to begin with. The main weapon is absurd and balance here is done by pairing it with a wimpy sub. Beakon or otherwise.

IMO the BIG thing here is Kraken. As I see it, the Sploosh can now be on the floor for twice as long as it deserves to. Any kill now has a failsafe button for a guaranteed KO or escape. Major upgrade to a main weapon which is high risk incarnate.

Yea, the more I look at this the more it looks like a new Krak-On Roller with a better sub.

Doesn't that describe tentatek pretty well though? It's not particularly great at anything, but it's not really bad at anything and is extremely adaptable and that's what makes it so good.

The point sensor might give you away, sure, but 1. You don't have to use it often, you can decide when to use it, and 2. You can always throw one, run away, and then come back and splat whoever you hit it with. I don't see why it's such a big deal that it gives you away, I'm sure people will find ways to use it and use it well. I also agree that it's a lot better than beacons.

I've been playing it in turf wars and it covers a lot of ground. I've been at the top or near to top of all my teams as far as ground inked. I'm running two damage ups and it's okay, but not great on kills. Half of the kills are from the Kraken and the other half are close up surprise attacks.
