Give what you think are your unpopular opinions about the series.
Be it about the music, the gameplay, the story, whatever; be free!
We just ask that you all respect each other.

We'll start:
Color Pulse 2024 is a really nice song!

I think deep cut is the worst design and music wise
And liquid sunshine is underrated.

Do I open this can of worms...? Yes. Yes, I do.

The game's balance is far worse than people give it credit for, especially now. Nintendo pushes weapons designed for beginner players to be viable in the top level metagame while leaving a lot of highly skillful weapons below them. Splattershot Jr. being a better option in the meta than H-3 is a particularly good example of this ridiculousness. Short range shooters outclassing brellas on the whole is equally dumb.

Nintendo should nerf the power or handling of mechanically easy top tier main weapons, and severely buff the power of mechanically difficult low tier main weapons going into Splatoon 4. In a perfect world, brellas would be picked over shooters for short-range support.

Here's another:
We think the main story of Splat 3 was the weakest in the series.

-Why did a... Sentient, giant, grizzly teddy bear...steal an old man and try to cover the world in goo?
-Why was Deep Cut even there? The story probably wouldn't sound any different if they weren't.
-Why are Callie and Marie so chill about their grandfather's kidnapping/dried out state??
-Why is Lil' buddy even here??? (We love him, but still.)

As a certified Return of the Mammalians enjoyer, I can't disagree with you. Side Order has its flaws, but it's at least consistent with its overarching theme of Order. Return of the Mammalians is only chaotic in that many elements feel slapped in for the heck of it. If we wanted Deep Cut, they should have been the center of attention instead of wet Team Rocket. Even if the New New Squidbeak Splatoon was inevitable, they could have at least thought out a conflict instead of shoehorning one in. Mr. Grizz's motivations are unclear and also inconsistent with his previous characterization revolving around corporate greed.

I also believe ORCA and the fundamental premise of Alterna were spectacularly wasted. The idea of the last human settlement have so much potential to be literally anything other than a lore dump unlocked by completing levels. That's what Sunken Scrolls were for, and we got those too. And the implications??? I know the NSS (and probably the NNSS by extension) conduct their business in secret, but an archaeological discovery like that would change the world!

Oh, and Li'l Buddy deserved more than one scroll worth of backstory. At least it gives me room to make mine whatever I want him to be.

With much less interesting implications, I think Toni Kensa is conceptually an extremely boring brand. Everything is either black or white in the game that revolves around color. I do not understand why its products are so popular. If you want more subdued options, other brands have stuff that doesn't defy the rest of the game's aesthetic.
Yes, my Hedit build and my Drinks On Me nTri build both use one piece of Toni Kensa gear. One is for character reasons and one is so my hard-earned Cooler Jacket stands out more.

I feel like the designers have experimented with what you are proposing. May I present: Splatanas.

Toni Kensa has actually been interviewed in-universe (hidden in an art book, of course) which revealed some lore about the vision behind the kensa clothing line. It boils down to the simple blacks and whites of the clothing enhancing the color of the ink used in battles. The same applies to other pieces of gear, hence it being so popular; it's easily the easiest brand to fit into outfits.

Splatanas aren't support weapons, though. Brellas are already halfway there, they just need to match shooters' paint.
