Hey!

The idea's been tossed around a bunch and now's a better time than ever for me to deliver! A lot of the stuff that's currently up on the page is a work in progress, but this is what I've been thinking so far. I'm very open to changing anything here.

• The tournament will begin at 2 PM EST on Sunday, October 27th. Currently trying to decide whether that Saturday or that Sunday would be better for this and your input is important so please message me if one, but not the other would work for you.
• The format will be round robin. If we get 8 or more teams, teams will be split off into one of a few round robin pools and there will be a final elimination bracket as well.
• Tournament will be best of 3. If one ends up happening, grand finals of every elimination bracket will be best of 5.
• Map list will be provided in the future! I'll mostly be doing actually good stages so don't worry about Splat Zones Wahoo World ruining your time.
• Just for simplicity's sake, Splattercolor Screen will be fully banned. Too many people still have disabilities triggered by it. Every weapon kit that has it will be banned as a result.
• You don't need a Squidboards account to join! Your team can join even if only one of its members is a Squidboards user or if none of them do and you've just heard about this tournament through a friend.

The time is now finalized by the way since plenty of people have signed the form and a bunch of others know about it and I've not seen any further complaints about the time that's currently planned.

Yeah, I'll match you with people when possible. It might be a while out since submissions to that form have slowed down since I first made this thread but you will be able to join. I'll message you when your group is ready!

Currently 2, but there are technically enough people for a third (nearly a fourth) pickup. I expect more people to start joining in closer to when the tournament starts.

Tournaments tend to have tournament pools that people can use to join each other's private battles

How does that work?

Quag is right about the pools bit. You just need to go to the ingame pools menu in the battle lobby, I think under the same part of it where you'd normally see your notifications for a friend levelling up. You'd have to type in the pool code I decide (it'll probably be called 'dziscool' to match stuff I've held in other places) and when someone makes a private battle you'll be able to see it.

A few important things.

There is now a Discord server for this tournament, plus any others I might hold for this community in the future! Reason being I'll need to ping people when Rounds start, plus it's just a straight up quicker and more direct way to contact me. I would appreciate if at least one person from every team were to join to make it simpler.

Also, about the maplist. I could just make one but I'd like other opinions first. I could just put maps that are super common in competitive play...but this is meant to be fun for everyone first, a serious competition second. As such, please vote here if you'd like to help influence the maplist. I don't want to burn too much of your time getting everyone's opinion on every single map mode so I used the common ones as a baseline and left room for people to input other ones they like if they want. You do not have to fill this out if you don't want to. I will release the finalized set of maps we'll be using within the next week or so.

Exciting news!

Despite being a week out from the tournament, we have one full team and four pickup teams signed up! Thank you guys! 5 teams already is a great number for something like this!

I'd expect the signups for individual players to slow down so if you fill out that form now, don't be surprised if it ends up taking a while for you to get paired with people. I'll still let you know when that happens regardless.

With you guys's input, and with me trying to avoid too many duplicates, here's the current maplist! Some maps might need removed from here depending on the final turnout for the tournament and you guys have shown a pretty heavy disliking towards Tower Control in particular so keep in mind this isn't fully final. If you want a good baseline for what to practice then I'll tell you that we'll only be playing on maps that are listed here!

It's still going to depend on how many people join but since I know of at least 8 teams joining now (thank you guys!!), long story short, assuming no more teams end up joining, it can be anywhere between 8 and 17. Average would probably be around 12. If you want to know why, then I'll explain.

When the tournament starts, I'll be breaking off the teams into groups of 3 or 4 and each team will play a best of 3 against every other team in their group. Battlefy should tell you which teams to play against next when the tournament happens. From there, I'll split the teams off again for a final, single elimination bracket. If you win against more than half of your opponents you'll be sent to one group, but if you win against half or fewer of your opponents you'll be sent to another. It'll be best of 3 again, but if you lose the best of 3 against any opponent, you're out and will be done playing.
