  • Do you think we need more staff for this website? I'm just asking because the only mod I ever see online is Ceph and I feel bad for making them work so hard

I saw a different mod online a couple days ago but that was the only time and I don't think he posted anything

I think we would only need two other mods active since there's not a lot of us.

I mean, there ARE mods. I don't think we need like 3 more though because as @isacc4 said, there's not a lot of us. Also, we are generally very nice/friendly people who do not trash SquidBoards.
Good luck for your tournament today! Go team baklava 👀

We start in an hour and a half, and I can't tell if I'm shaking because I'm really excited or if I'm nervous lol

Can someone please explain who the 335 guests using Squidboards are?
    Aiko.Octo
    Aiko.Octo
That said admin consoles of most forum software will allow those with permission to see the IP address of the guests. but it's often useless information because most shady folks are using proxies/botnets. But every so often you'll find that like 90% of your 'guests' are from one city in taiwan or something. (Disclaimer I haven't run active forums in like a decade and my knowledge might be outdated)

@Aiko.Octo Oh that's interesting... and also lowkey terrifying damn
    Aiko.Octo

It is kind of terrifying, but if it helps, once in a while you find out that what looked like an insidious bot spamming your host with page requests and probing into everything was just some high school/college kid's webcrawling python homework and they happened to pick your site to test it on and didn't know how to limit their request rate to something reasonable. Completely plausible and much less terrifying!
It makes me happy and sad that 14 members is the most people I've seen online in a while
This is really spontaneous but I have decided to form a Splatoon team! If anyone is interested I have a post about it. DM me with Squidboards if anyone has any questions. I'm going to wait a few days before posting the invite publicly because I would rather have Squidboards people on the team then completely random people.
On the 27th I'm going to be playing in Spawning Grounds 6 on team Baklava, wish me good luck, it will be my first ever Splatoon tournament!
Ok, I was skeptical about Mahi Tricolor but it kicks ***. It's so big and the podium rising up from the pool is really cool. I swear if they don't add tricolor to private battles at the end of this game there will be ink on my hands.
So when I Solo q, I play in handheld mode at my computer desk with both motion controls and sticks on. Does this put me at a noticeable disadvantage compared to other players? I'm asking because I own a Pro Controller and I'm curious if I should play with that for an upcoming tournament I have.

playing in handheld isn't unheard of in the competitive scene! if the upcoming tournament is soon, i'd stick with the setup you're used to - you don't want to end up kneecapping yourself because you're playing in a way you're just not used to because you heard that, theoretically, it's 'better' to play in tv/tabletop mode with a procon
    sevenleaf
    sevenleaf
that being said, as a tv-mode-pro-controller user, i don't think it's a bad idea to try out playing with a procon in solo q. not necessarily because i think it's better, just because it never hurts to try new ways to play and see from experience what you like best, y'know? maybe you'll like it better than handheld, maybe you'll hate it and never wanna try it again - but you won't know until you try

The one issue would be that you might not be able to use LAN, and just as a personal thing I find it harder to see and react to things when the screen is smaller for Splatoon in particular. That's just a me problem though and if those sound like non-issues to you then you should be fine.
My school just got put into max lock down, I'm ok but there are police and people are saying there either is or was someone with a gun in the bathrooms. I'm ok but send me prayers, I'm kind of freaking out right now

yeah, last year I had a lockdown because the freaking 9th graders were watching movies with gun noises in them, for 5 hours so I had to sit for 5 hours silent in school with 20 other idiots
Alright I've been in Canada without internet what did I miss from Worlds?

In all seriousness though, the kaizer vs jackpot set was the hypest set I've watched since the inkTV resurgence league last year where jackpot and AR beat starburst. I HIGHLY recommend watching it, both teams were playing insanely well, and ZerraZ was insane that match, there were so many sick plays

Oh and Nine and Jordan Kent were great as always

Seconding Kaizer V Jackpot as easily the highlight of worlds. Obviously the finals were a very close second in terms of the best part, but man, Kaizer V Jackpot was something ELSE
Does following someone do anything because I follow like a dozen people and I never get any extra notifications when those people post.

there’s a homepage tab for “your news feed” that shows you what the people you follow are up to (way off to the right), but… yeah that’s it. no notifications or anything
How important is it to keep your real name anonymous in this community?

Is Dynamo a mid line or a front line?
    Grushi
    Grushi
More of a midline to me, if I had to make a distinction, frontlines are very mobile weapons that can take space quickly and I don't think dynamo fits the bill
    isaac4
    isaac4
Not a Dynamo player but I'm pretty sure it would count as a midline since it doesn't have the mobility to move in quickly and reliably fight weapons up close.
I'm so confused how Guests outnumber Members 10-1. Y'all can make accounts, its free.

I assume a lot of them are bots or something cause most discussion takes place in other spaces like Twitter so it's weird that there would be a lot of guests here
