Panic. That's the word that I'd use to describe it. Every street. Every building. It's been nothing but mass chaos. It all started when that... thing appeared in the sky. Nobody really knows what it is, but we scientists have given it the temporary term: "Rift." Specifically speaking, the rift opened above New Inkopolis Tower yesterday. Since then, it hasn't done much except swirl around in the sky. Evacuation was recommended, but not required, as the rift seems stable and doesn't seem to pose a threat to common citizens. In a few moments, the team and I are going to take a closer look. It's possible that we may never return. A note detailing my will was left in the third drawer in the coffee room. Until next time.

A large crowd was gathered around New Inkopolis Tower, staring at the large swirling vortex of presumed death. There was quite a bit of speculation flying around. The questions that seemed to be on everyone's mind, however, were:
"What is this thing?"
"Where did it come from?"
"What's going to happen?"
To ease the crowd, a short inkling in a stained lab coat shoved her way towards the front of the crowd.
"Um... H-hey! Uh... Settle down, e-everyone!"
But the crowd was too busy chattering to listen.
"Hey! E-everyone! Please!"
But she still did not receive any attention.
Having enough, the blue inkling placed a special pair of earmuffs over hear ears, took out a high-tech version of the classic squid phone and pushed a button on a special application, which in turn caused a high-pitched squeal of a noise to echo throughout New Inkopolis. Only after this, did she have the attention of the crowd.
"Alright. Now that I have your attention, e-everyone... I think it's important t-to cover the basics of the situation. Now, uh... my name is Dr. Sue Shi, and my team and I are here to investigate the rift. As far as we know, it is stable and
c-completely safe. We're here to confirm that though, so we will inform you all i-if something changes."
After these words, Sue returns to her team to address the issue of the rift.
About an hour of probing has passed, and the scientists continued to work with their full audience observing their every movement. Suddenly, something unexpected happened. Bright lights flashed from the rift, its swirling increasing in speed, and echoing voices cry out of its inner depths. Of course, this last bit confused the scientists, but their confusion was eased as an unidentified object fell out of the rift, and then another, and another. Suddenly, a large amount of objects began falling out of the rift and spreading about around New Inkopolis Tower.

Once all of the objects stopped falling from the rift, the giant swirling vortex in the sky closed and the skies were once again clear. Robots were sent to investigate the rubble that had fallen from the rift, most of which dated from the past. Then it struck her.
"It was a TIME rift!" cried Sue, face-palming. Then, something else struck her. "Quickly, send out the med-bots to search for anything that might be alive."
Soon, a bunch of robots were rushing about the wreckage, searching for any survivors.

Shen lands in a bush just inches away from the base of the tower. The bush broke his fall and he hasn't sustained any injuries, save for a few cuts here and there.
Tyler lands in a tree which also seems to have broken his fall. He falls down a couple of branches, just to land on a much larger and sturdier branch, which is a bit too high above the ground for him to find his way to the floor on his own. Tyler has sustained minimal injuries with a small cut on the top of his left hand.
Zerul, as luck would have it, fell out of the rift and onto an old worn out mattress that was left in a nearby alley way. It was soft enough to break his fall and he survived without a single injury, save for his unconsciousness.
