i love the graphics for these but they seem rather small, hope we get some surprises (tho they are adding ways to go around mid which is good)

Interesting. Hammerhead has been pretty bottom tier for me for a long time so I'm curious if this will change that.

Ok this is surprising I thought they was just going to reveal the new stage, tableturf, and the catalog and be done with it. But there is still some more things in this season.

anyway thoughts on the map reworks: I don’t have any problem with the maps chosen here barnacle using a few touch ups would make the map fun, and hammer head getting a good rework would make the stage fun. But I got to be a little pessimistic here I don’t have high hopes for these reworks the past few was a slight improvement but the map didn’t feel better to play on. The only exception to me was mahi-mahi. So while I want to be excited I’m keep my expectations low.

So one of the changes that caught my eye the most here (and most others', I'm sure...)

So for once, Splatoon developers have added a completely new area to a stage! Honestly it looks like a very good one to add too. The issue everyone has with the stage is that it's way too attacker-favored and it doesn't seem too unreasonable to get to this new area on lockout. If you are able to get there then you'll be able to approach the spaces attacking teams normally hold at a different angle from the top route that normally is a defending team's only option. It is a one-way drop which if anything discourages attackers from going there although we can only hope there'll be a defending sponge or something in certain modes.

Most of the other changes to the two maps seem pretty inconsequential with the exception of maybe the lower green part in Hammerhead's blueprint, which is kind of a shame. Can't say I'm going into this with too many expectations though. I am curious what this means for the Scorch Gorge stuff we saw in the season trailer though...

Wait, is Scorch Gorge getting a rework too then? If so, wow, Nintendo's actually going all out this season, love to see it. This might be a really good update for comp players!

I'm not expecting the world from these but they look like additional routes to mid though, which would be MASSIVE for these two. Barnacle in particular is so close to being a great stage imo.

I wasn't expecting this at all. Maybe one stage rework but two? With one of those being Barnacle which I would have thought that the devs left as is.
Not just that but they actually added an extra area to the map that addresses one of the biggest problems Barnacle has?
I'm extremely excited to see what they do for both of them, even if I think Hammerhead is probably not going to change much.

I hope they add the Tri-Color ramp to Hammerhead in the normal modes. It'd be a massive improvement and even give it a second route in Rainmaker, which would probably make that mode decent on it.

So I judged wayyyy too early that side route on barnacle actually fixes one of the stage biggest problem and makes the stage from a 4.5/10 to a 8.5 in my opinion. My feeling towards this season map reworks are starting to lighten up a bit. (Please Nintendo make hammerhead good)

I just realized the block in the middle of Barnacle being wider is going to make it easier for Machine to hit anyone using it as cover.
Not that it was really difficult before though but I just thought that was an interesting change that will indirectly help Machine have an easier time on that map.
