Let's see, when certain cells from a male Octoling and a female Octoling combine, the result is a new Octoling, the tentacle cutting just results in the other Octarians. Inklings simply have the same thing as the Octolings minus the tentacle cutting.

Or in simpler words, two older individuals get a new game for the younger individual.
