Next Japanese Splatfest Announced: Maruchan Noodle Flavors!

Attention squids and kids: the next Splatfest to hit Japan has been announced and the two things battling it out look to be very unique. Famed makers of instant noodles and ramen Maruchan have gotten a spotlight in Splatoon as two flavors of their instant noodles are on both sides! Maruchan Red Fox Udon takes on Green Tanuki Soba with Japanese inklings deciding which will come out on top. While this might be more difficult for inklings from other regions to decide on this Splatfest for themselves, it should nonetheless be curious to see.

This will take place from July 3rd through the 4th starting at 6pm the 3rd and ending at 6pm the 4th. With the North American Splatfest (Cats vs Dogs) being rescheduled to July 4th as well as Pop vs Rock in PAL regions, it will be interesting to see if the servers can manage this mass of inklings. Get ready to grab that extra fresh Splatfest gear, pick that favorite weapon, and spread some ink!

 

I wonder if Nintendo made money from Maruchan to do that? I mean I'd actually love that. Spread that money over hear to fund some additional Splatoon content ;)

 

this is crazy unfair... they get their 2nd while we get the first..... japan bias, more snails means more gear rerolls for beter slots.....they already have the lag advantage

I've never had Maruchan before, but this Splatfest looks fun.

 

I'd be curious if Nintendo started self-advertising their own games through Splatfests as well.
I mean, who doesn't want a Splatfest based on Yoshi's Woolly World vs. Star Fox Zero, or something like that?

Has anybody actually had these? I'm not exactly sure what the difference is besides color, is it a different flavor or something? I've eaten Maruchan Ramen before, but not Red Fox or Green Tanuki, the names don't exactly clearly state the flavor.

Nah Nacho Cheese would take the spotlight.

 

If similar product placement Splatfests do make it to the West, I'm not sure I'd feel comfortable fighting for a brand. Like, if I'm advertising your product by fighting to prove it's the best, I wanna get paid for that.

 

Everyone knows Maruchan makes poor quality ramen and Sapporo Ichiban is far superior. I'm a Shin Ramyun person myself, or i just make it from scratch.

This makes me wonder what sort of product placement we can expect to see in the West.

This month's Splatfest, will you choose Callie's Doritos or Marie's Mountain Dew?

I wish we got a choice on what Splatfest we were able to do. I want to do Maruchan!
