Overall the blaster feels great, I feel so far that every splat is one I earned through good spacing and positioning, not cause it was aimed in the genral direction of an enemy
Also I feel the situation between the blasters right now feel this is a vanilla ranged vs custom ranged all over again.
One is amazing at support, but the custom blaster/ rapid blaster has such a heavy attack kit that everyone just looks over a perfectly good weapon.
Lastly has anyone tried the patched goo tuber? It seems to have to receive quite a buff that should make it better in close combat.
I've been working my accounts like a ladder. Bring all of one account up to rank X, then bring all of the alt to the same rank. There's a VERY strange dichotomy for me. On my "main" account, I slag through extensive losses with helpless teams that make massive, obvious, disastrous problems playing as a team as though they are total noobs to video games. Between two nights and all 3 rounds I won about 15-20% of matches max. Hours of non-stop losses would go by, including two shattered rank glasses back to the ok line.
The OTHER account, shot me from C- to B- in all 3 modes. Then played RM from B- to B in one session...it WOULD have shot me up to B+ or above, I won every game until my meter was one win away from advancement, had great teams I could support, but then I got four of those awful teams in a row again right at the last win mark, enough to put a crack on the glass, and thus didn't skip a rank. (The SJ into enemy ink over and over kind of bad...)
But it's a weird tale of two accounts. On one account I struggle endlessly like I belong in the C's to win games with permanantly assigned consecutive terrible teammates. On the other account I sail from rank to rank in an hour or two with little effort beyond playing a support role well and get consecutive awesome teams. I'm sure that won't last but I do find it interesting, that in all three modes, on all sorts of days, one account nearly always gets matched with one type of team, and the other account nearly always gets matched with another kind of team.... The amazing thing is I'm playing the "easy" account with random weapons I have little experience with, and winning all the time, vs. the account I give it everything with my mains and lose all the time... :p
Anyway, that aside, the point is, I decided to play the RM rounds on the alt with the vanilla blaster after your recommendation. I sucked bad the first two or three rounds (but we still won, thanks amazing teams!) But quickly got into it and by the end was the kill leader on the team most rounds :) Though I played very differently. Normally I'm all about pushing the objective. With the blaster I kind of wandered around the map painting paths with a blaster, which made me easy to forget about, and let the team go play with the RM while I was nowhere around. It made it easy when the RM got picked up by either side to come out of nowhere, slam on the ink armor, and just start exploding shells around it :p Eventually they'd catch on and target me specifically and chase me down, which let me start getting very good at shooting and dodging. I'd lose a lot of very CQC encounters, And I kept losing 1v1 to this one luna and this one octobrush, of course, but I did well, kills in the 15+ range by the end of the rank. It's a fun weapon. Not sure I can ever hang my octobrush up, but it's fun. I feel a little cheap using Ink Armor though. And I found I don't often use the toxic mist, opting to save the ink for more primary shots. I use it, but not terribly often. All in all a good recommendation though! Blasters show up for TC but I don't see them nearly as often in RM. And I've always liked the big blasters that seemed kind of unloved in S1 except TC (and even there Luna was ever more popular.)
Goo Tuber: I haven't re-tried it. I can't imagine the buff would really help it all that much. I WANT to like the playstyle because there's too many times with an eliter/squiffer I want to get right in their faces and splat them off a ledge/tower. But I can't imagine the handicaps are still worth it. If you miss that one shot you're worse off than an eliter!
Nah, I was referring to turf points from the second blaster on team yellow that came in fourth.
And you had trouble splatting me because I'm a proud graduate of the Piccolo school of dodging! =p
I think I had trouble splatting you because I was sucking badly ;) A mix of rust, and doing particularly bad in that session (I think the 2v2/3v3 thing throws me off too), and being overwhelmed by those competitive guys I'm not used to playing I was practically walking into shots :p And the lobby waiting makes my focus drift by the time the match starts :p I'm definitely at my absolute worst in PB. Always have been though.
