Gamexplain put out a match video of Manta Maria with some Bubble Blower action.

Gives a decen, quiet tour of the main portion of the map, but it's very ground level. Can't tell what all vertical surfaces are inkable or what's above you.

Also, you can tell which team has already played the game... ouch.

And you can barely make out the results screen before it fades to black... but that blaster got 20pts?! Did they just run to the center/other side of the map and start blasting whoever she saw?

Yeah I guess I understand, though i will say in the upper ranks of solo queue it does get easier, I am S+ in most modes (outside of TC) and I will say for duelies, squiffer, splatcharger, and few other weapon it is really effective that being said I have so much mobility it makes me hard to catch and easier to dodge
Also btw try the vanilla blaster in rainmaker (mentioned this in the new underestimated weapons thread but..) I went from S to S+ without a single loss using it, even went 19-6, it counters a lot of the current meta with it kit and is honestly is a real blast to use:D
So I was playing Squiffer, Eliter, and Vanilla Blaster a bit yesterday. Squiffer let me down in TC today. Got lots of kills, not as many as the buckets/splattershots on my teams but I think I died less...but we weren't winning. Somehow Eliter was the magic touch yesterday while the previous day it was opposite. But in both cases I was running respawn punisher after you mentioned it. I had a high survival rate with those weapons (2-3 kills per death), and I don't have any builds that really matter much for those weaps (mobility is so-so on them, and I don't run out of ink more often than a single refill main needs. I go with max ink resist though. I don't DISLIKE it, but I'm not certain how great it is either. Mainly, from what you said, the self-punishment for dying is worse than the punishment to your enemies for killing them. The respawn rate honestly didn't feel noticeable at all to me when I died. I expected to feel impatient but it felt normal to me and we didn't lose much ground without me (my teams were good for a change though) So if it wasn't noticeable to me, I'm wondering if it actually has ANY meaningful effect at all on my enemies? The ability SOUNDS good if it can keep your enemies off the map longer, but it just didn't feel like I was gone noticeably longer than usual. If they were gone LESS time than I was, I can't imagine it helping at all. (Granted, we won, but I don't attribute that to respawn punisher, but rather competent teams who actually pushed even when I wasn't there and without the sniper having to ride the tower while it's under siege. :p )

I'm thinking of running Comeback for my brush (and MAYBE sploosh) builds though. I ran it for a while in S1, and that was pre-buff. Great skill for a kamikaze role, maybe.

Also, quick respawn seems entirely useless. It can't even counter respawn punisher. Seems like a skill just for noobs that cant hit anyone in TW. The only catch is, I can see in organized teams, one player being the designated painter/RM carrier/tower rider wearing stacked respawn. If they make CERTAIN to never kill anyone and just rock an aerospray and paint the town and ride the tower, they'd never be off the map :)

Also, I played around with vanilla blaster in TW after you suggested it (RM was down and I only had time for 2 rounds so I kept my brush main and finished out the rank.) and you're right, at least for those TW rounds itw as REALLY good. It HAS to play support mostly, but after coming from squiffers recently it felt good! Definitely a high k/d differential. I hate to be a blaster troll, but I might try that out for RM on my alt. I did the C's with brella :p Somehow on my alt, all my teams are good and my brella was a perfect escort for their ace RM running game. On all 3 modes on my alt I was supported in C- by top notch teams and the game shot me from C- straight to B-. Yet on my main account it painfully made me grind through losses for hours for every single rank in every single mode including multiple cracked glass-back to the OK-line resets. Really weird how the two accounts have had such different experiences. I swear using brella had something to do with it :p Or the fact that Salmon run wasn't running? Blaster feels better than S1. Even when bunny hopping.

@Award You misunderstood, weak as in weak shots that rapid fire to stir up the turf. I love speed. I do not mean overall the weapon is unplayable. Sorry if my post came off as sappy, but I get tired of backing my 'claims' in order to appease people. It is my main, so I wouldn't be using it if it was 'weak', no offense.

I don't feel like getting into an argument that seems to be totally misunderstood, which seems to be a common thing with me, so please stay on topic. Either way, I want my weapon back, and that is all that matters to me.
I think you're misunderstanding my misunderstanding....I thought YOU were saying it was weak. I was also maining bamboozler in S1 for TC after the eliter nerfs, though I couldn't touch the bamboozler gods that could hit anyone, anywhere, any time. :)

Hard to make out, but I think that was a 200-something. Which is still amazebad. Or did you mean kills? I do 20+ kills regularly with octobrush in RM :) Of course there's a lot of deaths in that too. Hard to believe when I couldn't splat you the other week, but it's true! :p (and most of the time we still lose....)

Overall the blaster feels great, I feel so far that every splat is one I earned through good spacing and positioning, not cause it was aimed in the genral direction of an enemy
Also I feel the situation between the blasters right now feel this is a vanilla ranged vs custom ranged all over again.
One is amazing at support, but the custom blaster/ rapid blaster has such a heavy attack kit that everyone just looks over a perfectly good weapon.

Lastly has anyone tried the patched goo tuber? It seems to have to receive quite a buff that should make it better in close combat.

Nah, I was referring to turf points from the second blaster on team yellow that came in fourth.

And you had trouble splatting me because I'm a proud graduate of the Piccolo school of dodging! =p

I really don't have any motivation to really, really play. Since the switch doesn't have cloud saves or saves on the cartridge itself I can't help but feel one slip up could end my progress. I know I'm being paranoid but with the unholy amount of times I had save files wiped under my feet I'm just stuck in this limbo state till something is taken care of.

@DualHero,
It's an extremely frustrating matter for me too! I've been in that same state of worry every time I take the Switch with me. Yet at the same time, I can't let it eat away at wanting to enjoying myself.

I can however regularly bug Nintendo about my desire for external saving options through various platforms though. *nudge nudge*

So, does haunt still buff you while being located by the enemy, or is that no longer a thing? Also, does it show your team the enemy's location, or just you? I am already kinda turned off by haunt because it uses the thermal ink location instead of an echolocator tag, losing the useful "hey team i just got killed by someone and they're right over here" functionality, but if your team can't see them at all it makes it not super useful unless playing in a team, and even then you can see where they are on the respawn cam anyway. Also I really hope the location buff applies because that made haunt super fun in the first splatoon.

Not sure if it still gives buffs, but all thermal abilitys are for the player using them only sadly. Haunt was once an ability I used often in Splatoon 1, but now, meh. :L

So after the update, is it me or did they change up some of Marina's dialogue? Or is this new dialogue?

Pearl and Marina got new dialogue with the update. Maybe some lines were altered too. But for now I only know of whole new dialogue.

I've been working my accounts like a ladder. Bring all of one account up to rank X, then bring all of the alt to the same rank. There's a VERY strange dichotomy for me. On my "main" account, I slag through extensive losses with helpless teams that make massive, obvious, disastrous problems playing as a team as though they are total noobs to video games. Between two nights and all 3 rounds I won about 15-20% of matches max. Hours of non-stop losses would go by, including two shattered rank glasses back to the ok line.

The OTHER account, shot me from C- to B- in all 3 modes. Then played RM from B- to B in one session...it WOULD have shot me up to B+ or above, I won every game until my meter was one win away from advancement, had great teams I could support, but then I got four of those awful teams in a row again right at the last win mark, enough to put a crack on the glass, and thus didn't skip a rank. (The SJ into enemy ink over and over kind of bad...)

But it's a weird tale of two accounts. On one account I struggle endlessly like I belong in the C's to win games with permanantly assigned consecutive terrible teammates. On the other account I sail from rank to rank in an hour or two with little effort beyond playing a support role well and get consecutive awesome teams. I'm sure that won't last but I do find it interesting, that in all three modes, on all sorts of days, one account nearly always gets matched with one type of team, and the other account nearly always gets matched with another kind of team.... The amazing thing is I'm playing the "easy" account with random weapons I have little experience with, and winning all the time, vs. the account I give it everything with my mains and lose all the time... :p

Anyway, that aside, the point is, I decided to play the RM rounds on the alt with the vanilla blaster after your recommendation. I sucked bad the first two or three rounds (but we still won, thanks amazing teams!) But quickly got into it and by the end was the kill leader on the team most rounds :) Though I played very differently. Normally I'm all about pushing the objective. With the blaster I kind of wandered around the map painting paths with a blaster, which made me easy to forget about, and let the team go play with the RM while I was nowhere around. It made it easy when the RM got picked up by either side to come out of nowhere, slam on the ink armor, and just start exploding shells around it :p Eventually they'd catch on and target me specifically and chase me down, which let me start getting very good at shooting and dodging. I'd lose a lot of very CQC encounters, And I kept losing 1v1 to this one luna and this one octobrush, of course, but I did well, kills in the 15+ range by the end of the rank. It's a fun weapon. Not sure I can ever hang my octobrush up, but it's fun. I feel a little cheap using Ink Armor though. And I found I don't often use the toxic mist, opting to save the ink for more primary shots. I use it, but not terribly often. All in all a good recommendation though! Blasters show up for TC but I don't see them nearly as often in RM. And I've always liked the big blasters that seemed kind of unloved in S1 except TC (and even there Luna was ever more popular.)

Goo Tuber: I haven't re-tried it. I can't imagine the buff would really help it all that much. I WANT to like the playstyle because there's too many times with an eliter/squiffer I want to get right in their faces and splat them off a ledge/tower. But I can't imagine the handicaps are still worth it. If you miss that one shot you're worse off than an eliter!

I think I had trouble splatting you because I was sucking badly ;) A mix of rust, and doing particularly bad in that session (I think the 2v2/3v3 thing throws me off too), and being overwhelmed by those competitive guys I'm not used to playing I was practically walking into shots :p And the lobby waiting makes my focus drift by the time the match starts :p I'm definitely at my absolute worst in PB. Always have been though.

So soon after I posted that I decided to check out the goo tuber, it has a slightly quicker charge, still a problem but less of one.
However the big difference I noticed is when charge keeping it seems slightly faster than most of the other chargers including the squiffer.
Improving It's niche definitely helped a lot more with close range if you charge keep. Though I defiantly feel it need a little more work to be very good cause if there is an option of a quick charge or a quick charge keep, most people will choose the 1st

I tried the E-liter post patch. It felt A little better I like the kit wish that mines did a tad more damage people even if they step on both.
But all and All I like it.. maybe I'll give the goo tuber another go. It felt very underwhelming compared to other chargers. I like some of the other kits more.

Squiffer is a little underwhelming but Great stopping Power.

Now that I've gotten pretty decent with the Inkjet it's become my favorite special, and I wont deny it's because of how ridiculously powerful it is hehe. Honestly I would say it's as good if not better than the Inkzooka. I mean it can actually paint, has better mobility, has splash damage which is especially good for hitting around corners, and can even somewhat function as a panic special with the sudden jettison into the air. It's a major shame there's no Slosher with it, especially when both the regular Slosher and Sloshing Machine had variants with Inkzooka back in Splatoon 1. Ahwells, guess the Enperry Dualies are my new main for now!

Yeah I don't like Splashdown on Gootuber at all, the main problem being the weapon has no follow-up after said Splashdown. I was hoping the Bamboozler would be the charger to get that special (or even the Baller) as it has a fast enough charge to take advantage of the space created, but alas!

Inkjet is AMAZING! It's so useful, and once you learn the nuances it becomes almost unstoppable. I definitely enjoy it more than the Inkzooka. Here's to hoping that a new Slosher type comes out with it, as the datamined Slosher Deco, Tri-Slosher Nouveau, and Sloshing Machine Neo don't have it. :(
Inkjet is a pretty decent panic button too. ;p

Yeah, Inkjet is pretty great. The shots don't have e-liter range and speed too, so it's more balanced than the inkzooka even with it's extra utility. Just remember that the skies aren't friendly :P

I'm banking on third weapon kits, they have to in order to incorporate new subs n specials they said they were making. Course that would mean the third kits are more likely to have the new special rather than inkjet, but meh!

The Inkzooka doesn't have E-liter range or shot speed either, but both specials are still killing machines anyway, only the Inkjet can do more, and as they say, more is better! Hitting an Inkjet is actually very difficult, especially when they know how to use terrain, so the skies are at the very least safer than the ground.
