"Fried Mackerel Stadium", lol. I've really wanted a pair of Dualies with Splashdown and Splat Bombs, but alas, I'll have to wait longer. I don't know why they are modeled after shoes; there have been some weird weapon designs based on objects, but they have all shared the theme of making some sort of liquid mess, even if it is toothpaste (Dapple Dualies) or hot glue (Glooga Dualies). Well, the Luna Blaster looks like a hairdryer, but I don't know if this was actually intended.

This:

But also this:

So firstoff I actually think this is a really creative stage, small side area with a huge flat open middle ground to fight in no other stagein either game has truely had that, the closest was likely acho-v but even that wasn't as open

The dulies on the other hand look really nice though I wonder what their roll gimmick is...either way iy kit should make it a very reliable pick

MY WALLET AHHHHHHHH

Paid online....nah paid amiibo that's where it's at. Well looks like will have to save money...
P.S it look like nintendo is hinting at a inkcoming direct., (unless they just decided to throw in a tuna pun for no reson)

Their gimmick is the ability to roll 4 times, since the direct translation is “Quad-Hopper Black.”
And they can shoot while rolling.

The damage is very low (22, I believe), but being able to annoy the living crap out of blasters more than any other dualies definitely makes up for it. And by blasters, I mean me. I suck at handling dualies.

I think that’s supposed to represent Sheldon’s values, the bars that show the 3 stats of weapon, since the datamine usually gets the exact damage values wrong.
That's a fair point. Listed values, aside, though, it should be significantly lower damage than the dapples.

Goby Arena is the name of the new map, looks pretty cool, but how soon their "soon" is I don't know. I'm going to go for a gigantic stretch here but maybe we'll be getting 2 maps a month until July? It'd give us 8-10 final maps, which would be 4-5 of the old maps returning as well, and giving us 24-26 maps (which would be a ridiculous amount though).

I'm starting to side with people that there are too many map/mode combinations. I want just as many maps, but I wish it were a case where every map is available on Turf Wars, but then each map is only available on two ranked modes a piece. Then again, I don't always trust Nintendo to decide which map/mode combinations are the best, so maybe this is just something competitive tournaments need to weed out themselves. It's an issue above my pay grade, but I think it's becoming an actual issue as far as competitive Splatoon is concerned (which I do recognize is a niche community).

Sweet, that stage wasn't in the datamine, so that's a genuine surprise for once lel. Also a little surprised to see Dark Tetra so soon as that's the last brand new weapon, nothing but alt kits from here on out, but I ain't complaining! And good, everytime I think Nintendo might finally be done, they announce more amiibo. Can't wait to see what neat features they'll have that I wont be able to justify dropping $25 for! :(

Were we thinking about the same thing?

Where do you see exact values? I only see Sheldon numbers atleast on here: http://leanny.github.io/splat2/en_files.html
However we can still get the exact values since we know their real word effects. Tetra Dualie's 22 damage is the same value as the N-Zap's, and we know the N-Zap deals 28 per shot, so the Tetra will aswell. It also has 50 for the range, again same as N-Zap. Only question will be the firerate, which I have to imagine will be on the slower side since otherwise this weapon seems way too good!

From what snippets I overhear, it's an issue the competitive scene has been putting up with since the original Splatoon. There are some interesting ideas that get passed around though.

But as I'm not part of the scene nor helping out organizing tourneys, it doesn't greatly concern me... at least until I foolishly decide to help out with tournaments. "Oh sure, I'd love to help you organize your tourn—oh my ancestors what have I gotten myself into zomgwtfbbq!!!"

This is also a complaint among a few of my friends who don't play the game a ton but enjoy jumping in league... It throws them for a loop when they jump in a game and find a map they know in one mode is dramatically different from the map they're playing in another mode (most often, the complaint is about how different Rainmaker maps are).

So it seems like it's an issue for competitive and for the very casual. People like me, who are in between those two extremes, not as much... But I've started to get a little bit weary about learning so many new map/modes as well. I'll take more maps over not more maps, but it's imperfect.

Oh nice, I didn't really expect any more maps. Tetra dualies coming so soon is cool too. Though I didn't really get that they were based on shoes until now. Doesn't really have anything to do with liquids, unless you count sweat. It does fit the sport-like theme of Splatoon and goes together well with the new stage.

Also, really dissapointed the majority of S2 players hates pickles on burgers. I guess the playerbase is younger than I thought...

Also, what's in the background? Is that the new shifty station? Looks super weird.
I'm extremely late to explain this, but that's a fax machine. It's how they get the Splatfest themes; humans faxed them up to a satellite, and then a few centuries later they get faxed back down to earth.

I knew I was going to miss something in the massive wave of posts, but whatever.

This isn't particularly relevant to me since I don't play the inferior PAL splatfests, but personally I grew out of pickles. Just don't like them anymore, I suppose.

To be honest, I really hope the don't add many more stages. There are already so many that I can't really find my favorite stages.

They've been doing 1 map a month, don't see why anyone should expect anything different, at least until the end of the guaranteed support period, where we have quite a few more months left.

I'm kind of going to go in things about the competitive stuff here just a heads up

The thing is with competitive is that there are a lot of stages, and people clearly know some are ban-worthy but no one has done anything about it, and that's been going on since the first game. Saltspray Rig anything, Blackbelly Rainmaker and Port Mackerel Tower Control are the first ones that come to mind; they were still played in tournaments despite being removed from Solo ranked in Splatoon 1.
There was heavy discussion about banning Saltspray back then but even with all the arguments that were brought up, that it was not a competitively balanced map, not a single tourney organizer did anything and people kept playing it. So yeah that's on them

I wouldn't be surprised if the same thing happened with Splatoon 2, especially with Nintendo backing it up to make it ''more competitive'', people won't want to ban maps because of that. Ironically enough here in the west we immediately ditched an entire game mode out of comp play because it was labeled as a ''casual mode''... though Japan goes on right ahead and plays it in tourneys anyways x.x;;
