What Patch/Update do you want to see to improve competitive Splatoon?

I think really the main things are spectator mode, and then the rest is pretty much dependant on the community side of things. They can add this and that to the game, but competitive games are their communities, and dedication is paramount.

Why Competitive Splatoon should use all Game Modes instead of one

That's like an early tier list in Smash or any other fighter. We can't be shortsighted and develop a feeling that "we've got this", such a thing is what separates the games that make it and those that don't when it comes to having a healthy and mature competitive scene and playerbase. But to be...

Why Competitive Splatoon should use all Game Modes instead of one

As a brother/sister site of Smashboards, I understand how you feel about squidboards. It, like Splatoon, needs time to grow. But that time is needed to make room for growing discourse and in-depth unraveling of the game and how it's played competitively by serious competitors who understand the...

Why Competitive Splatoon should use all Game Modes instead of one

That's not really what a metagame is fully about. A metagame consists heavily on counterplay, counter strats, and the development of how people play the game seriously for competition. It's an emergent element. It's what makes many competitive games/sports engaging (both for viewers and...

Why Competitive Splatoon should use all Game Modes instead of one

I'm sorry to bring this up, but is that all I can expect from this thread? Discussing the youth of a new game's metagame is a very ordinary and normal topic. If it's not to be admitted to, then I guess an honest discussion can't happen. In every competitive scene I've been a part of, quality...

Why Competitive Splatoon should use all Game Modes instead of one

I'm speaking compared to competitive esport games. Splatoon is still in its infancy. Even Smash 4 was, yet you see it growing into an adult with the quality of discourse, tournaments, the numerous professionals in the field whom are dedicated to unraveling the game and fully understanding it...

Why Competitive Splatoon should use all Game Modes instead of one

Good vid :) Just to be clear, every competitive game has its moments where it seems 'broken'. Starcraft, smash, SF, LoL. Drawing conclusions based off of very limited real-world evidence isn't advisable. Imagine if Stocks wasn't the smash ruleset, just because the first few tournaments had a...

Thoughts on the Octobrush, now that we're used to it

Wanted to open up some new discussion for this weapon. Now that we have a new inkbrush, some newer and more focused-on weapons are out, and we've had some time to develop out initial impressions with it. To hear my thoughts, I had a chat in a video about the Octobrush recently. It pretty much...

Your personal thoughts on motion controls in Splatoon

Yeah, I think it's also kind of up to what weapon you specialize in. You can get away with control stick's limitations as a roller, whereas a charger will have a much harder time.

This game has turned into Call of Duty...

That's kind of what I've been talking about here and in my yt series (example ) The kills-focused modes are comfortable for most gamers because it replicates games we already know how to play, whereas we write off turf war because we feel it's not similar enough to the COD killfest we want.

Your personal thoughts on motion controls in Splatoon

Hey guys & gals, I discussed the topic of motion controls in my newest video and felt it'd be interesting to hear your thoughts on the topic as well. Have a listen and give us your thoughts! Motion Controls segment begins at 5:40

Help get a Spectator Mode and LAN Support added to Splatoon!

This is important to me as a commentator. I'd love to produce Splatoon commentary videos on my channel, but unlike Smash 4 this doesn't have a spectating feature or replay feature.

Eh I don't know if it's worth it, I'm strapped for cash so yeah

    The Slosher, OP or not?

I don't think it's overpowered. I think it's better than some similar options though, if not most. Maybe it's overtuned, but not OP. It's just a bit better as a choice, for players, than a ton of weapons. I talk about more of my thoughts on the Slosher here:
