When I was 11 1/2 I was extremely close to death and I still have the scar to prove it.

I had just finished watching the Secret of Nimh on T.V. and I was super happy because I got to finally tape it! Just a few minutes after the credits, I started to feel a little bit of pain in my abdomen. It very quickly grew to immense pain where I couldn't even walk anymore. As I dragged myself back and forth on the floor, my grandmother had commented on how I was being dramatic again. (Honest mistake. Sometimes I'd be a bit of a drama queen lol.) I was crying at that point and telling her it was real.

Eventually, my mom offered me some strawberries and cream. That was one of my most favorite foods to eat. When I said no because I couldn't handle any food, she basically went, "Okay. She's not faking. Call an ambulance."

Long story short: I got to the hospital, they said it was appendicitis and that they'd take my appendix out, it ruptured when they started the surgery, they removed all the toxins and then told me after I woke up that I almost died on the table that night.

I had a surgery about my brain. Long story short there was a infection that was eating away at my brain and the doctor said if I didn’t come in I’d be dead the next day :/

Once I was climbing a really tall pipe and I fell off and THANK GOD i missed the concrete and landed in the water instead

I went to Lake Huron in Michigan one time when I was 5, and nearly drowned after getting hit by a wave and shoved under a dock.
After that I never learned how to swim

Not quite near-death since I was completely fine save for a bit of scraping and soreness, but I was hit by a car once. It was neither my fault nor the vehicle's, but rather the crappy intersection between a trail and back road. Hedges blocking vision around a corner and no stop line for cars, not to mention both paths being downhill. My bike unfortunately did not survive. I no longer cycle for unrelated reasons.

They've added a stop line since the accident but still haven't fixed the massive blind spot corner. I fantasized about bringing a jerrycan and lighter to that hedgerow for a few weeks after the accident. Extremely inconsiderate, the privacy of your yard can't be that important compared to the safety of trail users.

either I haven't or I just don't reflect upon it

well I know one, I swung myself hard with the back of my head to the pavement. came out with just a concussion and heavy migraine for a month or so after that though

I have severe food allergies, so allergic reactions are quite dangerous. During college, something must have not been properly cleaned at the cafeteria and I had a bad reaction, nearly suffocating before I was able to get help.

A few months early, my brother and I were almost squashed by our plaster ceiling when it collapsed in the middle of the night while we were sleeping. It was 1,500 pounds of rubble that ended up falling in total! Fortunately, it fell in the center of the room, and my brother and I slept against the walls, so it narrowly missed us. I actually slept through it! There was a steel cot in the middle of the room where our best friend had been sleeping the night prior; it was turned into a pretzel by the rubble! Good thing our friend wasn't sleeping there when it fell!

This all happened in 2015, and being that I had a lot more Splatoon to play in my life, nothing was gonna stop me yet!
