I know I'm already winning but I need feedback on a rework idea for Big Bubbler and this thread has consistently worked well.
Hear me out:
  • The HP of the special's barrier is reduced from 2400 to 500
  • The weak point on top of the barrier is removed
  • The barrier constantly recovers 75 HP per second
  • The special's duration is separate from the barrier's HP
  • The device that emits the barrier has its own HP separate from the barrier
  • If the barrier is destroyed a new one will be created shortly after
  • The barrier deals 30 damage to enemies that pass through it
This rework is for Splatoon 4, where Triple Inkstrike would no longer exist.
Please help me polish this.

Interesting to see that your approach will be for a reworked version for S4 while I plan on changing the special for S3 specifically.
It definitely gives you the opportunity to make a lot more drastic changes.

What's the duration for the special though?

Depends. Thinking in the range of ten to twelve seconds since it can still be ended early by breaking the emitter.

Also, what do you think of the idea to merge Screen and Big Bubbler together?
You could have a protective barrier that blocks the view of the enemy team but unlike Screen, it doesn't block your teams view.
I'm also thinking that the shape of the special could be changed so it's not completely denying access to the area it's in.
Maybe a similar shape to Screen except smaller (of course) and the edges curve around the user to keep their sides less exposed?

I figured that could work too. You should follow through with that idea and I’ll come up with a finished version of mine.

I wonder if the person to win will be on comment page 101.

Well, while I am here I will field a weird question:
- Why did Nintendo make the H3 nozzle-nose kit with point-sensor for 3 consecutive games?

Or why have point sensor at all in this game?

Best guess is the H-3 needed the preemptive Nerf.
Seriously maybe that is what Nintendo thought... and were too lazy to change their thinking?

Based on Sheldon’s descriptions it seems as though the intent of the Point Sensor is to make it easier to land one-burst splats on opponents by marking them. It’s just a standard case of the developers trying to use a non-combo sub as a combo sub. Other examples include Point Sensor on Custom Blaster and Toxic Mist on Splatana Stamper Nouveau.

Point Sensor can be a perfectly good sub for the right weapons; Nautilus 47 and Custom Wellstring V both work well with it. The problem is when the developers put the sub on weapons with the intent of them using it in the middle of a fight.

To me point sensor can lead to somone trapping you into a corner then someone else will splat you with a splat bomb

I think that's just a mistake on your part, being flatly honest. It's important to stay somewhat out in the open while located, since it's a lot easier for opponents to coordinate and trap you when there's a target strapped to you.

I was using a ai/llm chatbot and got this response:

In Splatoon, players can give each other "goosebumps" by using certain abilities or weapons...

I guess in a way that can be true, but I still think that is a (laughably) weird coincidence to happen so close to Halloween.

we may never know who truly wins in the end. but just for a moment, however brief, before it’s taken from us once again, we can each experience victory.
