I'd say it depends on how you personally define OP. I mean if you define it as perfect in everyway, then no it isn't - but it's hard to argue that it isn't very strong in multiple situcations.

I personally feel like they should make it more "specialised" - just make one or two changes to make it more unique and balanced while also keeping it relatively strong.
My definition of OP is having little to no counters while being able to counter a majority of other weapons/types, which is why pre1.3 Tri-slosher was OP. Knowing Nintendo, they'd just be like "Reduced painting under feet" and "Reduced damage to Rainmaker Shield by 15%."

I think that it would be mroe fun if they made it shoot 10 bubbles that did 10 damage. Less DPS, less splats :D

Thought it'd be fun to come up with my predictions/hopes for the new weapon's alt kits.

Custom Explosher
- Squid Beakons + Splashdown

I think it's about time we got this kit on a weapon, and what better than a backliner like the Explosher! It'll be in the back ready to support it's frontliner teammates with the patented superjump-splashdown! Beakons work for this aswell especially since you can see if enemys are nearby. I want this kit the most as it's unique and will be uber fun, but it's also probable too as no Slosher has Beakons or Splashdown.

Ballpoint Splatling Nouveau - Squid Beakons + Suction Bomb Rush

Wont be as much synergy with Squid Beakons here, but the Ballpoint is so versatile it can afford not to have an offensive sub. Wouldn't mind Inkmine either but that's already on the Custom Hydra. Similarly, a varient of Bomb Rush is the only special Splatlings don't have. This kit should be good for maintaining constant pressure with Beakons letting your team get in faster and Suction Rush for map control.

Bloblobber Deco - Inkmine + Stingray/Inkjet

I'd prefer Inkmine on Slosher or Sloshing Machine as they're mid-range frontliners where mines shine the most, but since that's not possible unless we get Sheldon's picks, I'll hope for it here. Even the 20 dmg from tagging reduces the number of hits Bloblobber needs to splat so there's definitely good synergy. Couldn't decide between Stingray or Inkjet, but both aid the weapon's weakness to highground/rival backliners. Too bad the weapon will probably be nerfed into the ground. =/

Nautilus # - Curling Bomb + Burst Bomb Rush

Curling Bomb should be pretty self explanatory on a weapon that can hold charge for an extended period of time. Also allows the Nautilus to instantly move instead of having to charge first. As for the special, another variety of Bomb Rush since Splatlings lack them. Burst bombs fit the weapon's fast aggressive nature methinks.

Now watch me get every single kit completely wrong!

Always wanted a Beakon x Splashdown kit every since last year, and more so since the beakon buff.

On one hand the buff has been teaching me to open and use the map more, but on the other hand that kit would encourage me to practice idiotic shenanigans. Like placing beakons out in the open, visibly noticeablec locations, heavily trafficked areas, and what-not for splashdown cheese.

"Hey everyone!!! I'ma drop this beakon here where we all see it, so don't do nothin to it! Oh no Ms. Beakon they're coming right for us--I better superjump to safety! *superjump splashdown cheese*"

While that kind of tactic would be super fun (i love jumping in with splashdown on my overextending pals during their firefights) i could see this kit working well on a backline weap, esp with sub power up or QSJ... u can jump in with splashdown on ur teammate, then safely retreat to ur beakon!

Eh, considering they're including 30-something songs from Castlevania, they might as well do it and include 30-something Splatunes as well. Not that I'm biased or anything.

Seems Smash Ultimate will have 23 songs from Splatoon.
We don’t know if that’s including unlockable tracks too though.

Also hi all, I’m still alive. Just been lazy lately and forgot my SquidBoards account password so I had to create a new one and all that.

Hopefully at least the music section will have some Splatoon 2 representation. Also, I hope there's any remix tracks that ARE good.

Also, August's EU Splatfest theme is announced, apparentely. Can't embed a tweet for some reason but here: https://twitter.com/SplatoonNews

It's a choice between an Adventurous holiday or a Relaxing holiday. I'm quite a lazy person, but just going out there to see what happens definitely results in more interesting holidays than just laying in the sun all day. Adventure it is.

Well that doesn't answer my question, but meh whatevs! This discussion isn't really going anywhere so I'll just drop it now.
If only you were me, you'd see exactly what I'm talking about...

Seems someone likes that Calamari Inkantation quite a lot. Hopefully this sort of option is one day implemented into our private battles, at least for Sploon3 if not this one.

And, can anyone confirm if Hori's Switch-version of the Gamecube controller will also have motion controls? So far it has all the corresponding buttons and I've never played with a Gamecube, but if the controller has motion functionality I'll give it a whirl!
