So what 'dailies' do y'all actually do daily and why/why not? (Note that I mean 'daily' as 'every day that you play the game' and not necessarily as Every Single Day Ever With No Breaks lol.)

If you DON'T do the discounted shell-out machine pull, why not?

If you get on to play specifically for the daily catalog points bonus (I guess that's about to be much less important now with the reused catalogs, but right now it may still be worth it for the conch shells!), what is your go-to mode for achieving that? I know a lot of folks consider salmon to be the most reliable, while others go to turf to keep it casual or to ranked in hopes of getting a quick KO. Granted, if you're getting on for a longer play session anyway it doesn't really matter.

If you check the shops every day, is there something in particular you're looking/hoping for? Like I'm working on getting all the gold gear badges right now, so I'm keeping an eye out for brands I still need the badges for.

I don't see a lot of people talking about doing the Shel-drone or Cipher's daily find and I wonder if those who do actually are in the minority or if it just feels like it. So why or why not do you do those?

I think they're fun and possibly a bit underrated. It's essentially two extra gambling attempts with a different prize pool. A smaller prize pool for sure, but they're the only way to get party 2x cash tickets outside of the catalog/special promotions and (perhaps more importantly) can also give you regular 2x cash tickets, both of which the shell-out machine doesn't have any chance of giving you. And both things have a 10% chance of giving you 5 of a random ability chunk (whereas the shell-out machine has a 10% chance of giving you just 3). While you have the highest chance of getting locker decorations (and that may only matter to you if you're going for completionism... I don't know anyone who actually wants 10 kidney anatomy models.... ), once you max out on those you just get cash instead. You also have a 10% chance of getting 30k from Cipher which is certainly more cash than you'll ever get from the shell-out machine! (And then if you want you can even... go and put it right into the shell-out machine, lol) All in all it feels like not a bad deal for something you get for essentially 'free'... if you already enjoy playing those parts of the game often enough to have the eggs/prlz for them. For me personally it's a nice excuse to play more side order which is a lot of fun but it often gets back-burnered in favor of other priorities. And I still use Deadly Dance Hall (and occasionally After Alterna if I am feeling spicy) as a mechanical/mental warm-up anyway so I'm not ever at a shortage for power eggs. But I can see it starting to feel grindy if you had to go out of your way to do it.

Lastly, are the daily bonus incentives compelling enough to persuade you to boot up the game just to do them, or do you only bother doing them if you're getting on for a longer play session anyway? How do you feel about daily incentives in general? Are they a fun little bonus to something you're doing anyway, or an annoying little chore you feel like you 'have' to do?

Is there anything else worth doing daily that I missed here?

....Is this entirely too many questions to have in a single thread?? 😅

I only check out the shops and do the discounted Shell-Out Machine pull but I did use to actually enter Alterna for the Shel-drone.
Last time I did that regularly was around a year ago and the reason I stopped was because I just didn't care enough anymore to constantly head all the way towards the drone and deal with the loading times just to end up getting some locker decoration I was never going to use.
It's not as bad in Side Order but my experience with the Shel-drone made me not care much for what Cipher had to offer.

I don't know anyone who actually wants 10 kidney anatomy models....
as the guy who periodically redoes their locker to reflect my OCs i now have to figure out who of my horde would have 10 kidneys in their locker

anyway i aim for my one win of the day, more to keep myself from getting rusty than for the catalog points though. i was never the "finished two whole catalogs in a season" person but i never had trouble finishing my first one, either. on the topic of daily Playing the Game, my new season resolution has been to play through at least one series per day if i can, both to try and actually make it to S+ this season and to, like, build game endurance, because the average tournament is more games than the 3-7 a series ticket makes me play

i've been doing my daily shell-out pull but mostly so i can do that bit i do in the octo airlines server where i post my daily pull result + the outcome of my necrodancer daily challenge run and only comment on the former

i usually don't do my shel-drone or cipher find but you make a strong argument towards starting to do those. i didn't know the shel-drone was the best way to get money tickets or that cipher could give you money??

if i don't really feel like playing one day though i'll usually only go out of my way to do my daily shell-out pull, if anything

edit: oh i forgor. i check my shops mostly to see if there's anything i missed, and level up 0- or 1-star gear i think is cool and deserves to be 2-star

The main issue with the Shel-drone and Cipher's Siftings are that they are very, very out of the way, requiring about a minute's worth of time just in navigation menus and loading screens each. Entering either story mode just for the sake of the daily reward draw really isn't worth the time, even if they offer exclusive 2x Cash tickets (the solo version I currently own 96 of, despite regularly using them).

Shell-out, Shops, and First Win of the Day are all fairly quick and easy to accomplish.
One thing that's a bit odd about me personally is I also always check Ammo Knights along with the other shops, reviewing the weapon descriptions that I'd forgotten. I have all the weapons, obviously, but I still like to review them. Those descriptions have a lot of effort and flavor put into them, they're a very much overlooked part of the game.

my dailies are barely even dailies either, lmao. i play a bunch of games that use daily grinding and i have never been good at actually keeping it up (my apologies to my light buddies in sky cotl, whom i have constantly left hanging for days on end). my problem is that i can keep myself going for a while but the moment i miss a day my brain immediately snaps out of the trance that anything i am doing in this video game matters

of course I gamble. I need food tickets and chunks. I am a hungry squid.
In a similar vein, I also check the shell-drone for any lucky chunks or drink tickets. Will do the same with Cipher too once I unlock it. Just need to buy the last piece of gear. I also check the stores still, in case there's gear I dont have yet/there's RSU gear I can shred for chunks. Though the switch online app is better for that.

But a more "me"-kinda daily is that I pop a drink ticket and do 5 open matches for chunks. Keeps my skills up even if I dont necessarily feel like playing much that day.
And it has to be 5 because then I end up with the food ticket at a nice round number. And it has to be a nice round number or the vibes will be off.

I didn't even know about the Cipher's daily find!
Also dunno when I'll put in the time to be able to make use of the Shel-drone. you just gotta 100% exploring the maps, right? I had a though time with some hard to reach spots haha..

@neonscreenlight eeey another Sky cotl player! well, I got tired of the grind and expensive cosmetics there so I hardly log in anymore since I started playing Splatoon

Wait YOU CAN WIN MONEY TICKETS WITH THE SHEL-DRONE???? YOU CAN WIN MONEY TICKETS????????

Well, guess I got a new habit to build.
Other that that, I usually play for around 2 hours at a time (mostly X) so I only do the usual shop shellout thing. But I do try to play salmon run until a king salmonid on every rotation! I don't do this all the time, and it's mostly for the money (tickets) and chunk rewards: I'm a greedy squid.
If I can get a salmon run badge and scales along the way, cool!

I used to send out the Shel-drone, but I stopped caring about a year ago. And I didn’t use Cipher’s since I needed to buy a few more items from the shop first (didn’t have the urge to until a month ago).

I absolutely checked the gear shops often, and now barring the Basic Octo Tee (please hook me up if anyone’s got it), and a few other non-shop pieces, I got almost all gear now

I also did First Wins often too, though I did it a lot more when I first started playing the game. Never going to care about the catalog again since I got all the stuff, but it’s not worth it IMO.

and idrc about Shell-Out beyond couch shells and the fact the most of the time I didn’t have money anyway because I spent it on gear 🤭

Tempted to change the Salmon Run daily to getting 100 Bronze Scales per day because I just want to get the entire Octoleet Set, at least I'm halfway through.
