third kits happening for Heavy and Heavy only cause the devs realised that they forgot to give it a kit with Splash Wall <3

If I had a nickel for every main weapon with the pink white and black, a Deco kit, and wall on one kit, and this comes true, I'd have 3 pickles.

It's not a lot, but weird that it could happen 3 times.

I've long felt a shortage of Burst Bomb kits (not even eight?!) in Splatoon 3. Dunno if the devs overcorrected in giving them to fewer kits (I'd reduce the bomb's throwing range a bit if they're worried about chip-support and/or comboes that much), even though I'd gladly give that sub to Dread Wringer or Splat Dualies or Octobrush. Maybe a "Tempered Dynamo" could have Burst Bomb or Curling Bomb (like certain much faster Rollers). That'd be strong AND silly.

We're definitely getting 3rd kits, they're so easy to add and they'd easily add an extra year of longevity. The models are already coded to be easily changeable and 3 has a built in weapon release system. My personal hopes are:

Mini with Torpedo and Trizooka
Sploosh-o-Matic with Fizzy Bomb and Zipcaster
Splattershot Nova with Burst Bomb and Booyah
Luna Blaster with Curling and Inkjet

Alright I admit I got my hopes high with the dmca thing. But I might as well talk a bit about the kits we currently have since I don’t really know where else to put it. In my opinion I honestly think that most of the weapon have at least 1 good kit. I know that this sounds like copium, but I had this thought since sizzle season of course there are some weapons that kind of need a 3rd kit like dread, and swig for example. But I feel that most weapons is perfectly fine. Even weapons I with weaker kits usually need a buff to one part like l3 with stamp and (can’t believe I’m saying this) dapples with slider. Of course I’m looking at this from a solo queue casual POV not a competitive POV, so it could just be my bias coming in.

i am so extremely neutral towards the idea of third kits (if we get ‘em, cool, but if we don’t, oh well) but i don’t see how “regular content updates are ending” means 0% chance of third kits? it makes it less likely ig but it was already just about as unlikely imo, we knew regular content updates were ending after two years. basically if there was a chance before this tweet, there’s still a chance now

My prediction still stands that Splatoon 3 will get a content extension shortly after the release of the next console to keep Splatoon players invested while they work on Splatoon 4. It seems only logical, since it would probably be one of the few times they would be able to generate more interest and sales for the game.

I think it's more about the timing of the confirmation being right after Grand Fest ended and also that they were open about their other future plans like rerunning seasonal Splatfests, Big Runs, Eggstra Work, and continuing patches.
I didn't think they were happening anyway ever since the previous season but this was the last event that would have made sense for a a 3rd kit announcement and they didn't do it so it makes sense that the cope for 3rd kits is dying down now.
This is Nintendo though so even if it wouldn't make sense to drop new content out of nowhere sometime in the future, they would still do it if they felt like it.

That's what I was thinking as well but I don't like the idea of Nintendo trying to extend the lifespan of S3 by releasing 3rd kits a year from now after already spreading out 2nd kits for two years.

At this point I feel like we can't be picky with Nintendo's modus operandi. Anything is better than nothing.

Are we really looking at a year from now? Most Switch 2 rumors peg its release at early summer at the latest, and this is something they could have ready on release day. And that’s not too freaky a timeline, compared to S2’s surprise Splatfests.

Unless more content is announced I don't think the current evidence for third kits outweighs the ones against them.

The takedown was probably so people don't confuse the mod with official content or get the wrong idea that third kits are in the game.

The Aerospray PG model thay was present in the game might have been considered to be used as the second kit's model since the second kit is really similar to the burst bomb/booyah bomb kit in 2, and so that it looks a bit more unique, but they settled on RG instead. I'm not sure if either model existed in the files at the same time.

Still... one can dream. This is probably the best game to get third kits in since there's no generic bomb rush.
