How Do You Deal With Losing Streaks?

Do you think the current ranked system in Splatoon is overall good, or bad?

Whenever I lose two ranked matches in a row I stop and play Turf.
I can't deal with more than 15 minutes losing without getting angry.

This is still an issue for me since I'm that dude that keeps playing to try to win back the points I lost lol. Which can be awful on a long losing streak. I really need to learn to just not play ranked when it's a terrible mode/stage combo. Or when I have a few consecutive losses in general. Team synergy is such a huge factor too. I always try to bounce around until I find a team with a nice mix of weapons and skill sets. I know it'll never happen, but it would be so nice if the matchmaking system factored players' weapon types into who they're paired with (to avoid loads of repeats, weak matchups, etc.)...

I'm using a japanese iOS app called IkaMemo, I keep inputing my matches' statistics to see which weapons x maps x modes are the most effective to me.

I am awful at dealing with losing streaks. I usually take it too much to heart and quit the game lol. Never gonna get good that way :< I'm figuring out ways to fix that.

When I'm at the brink of a rank up the game knows and gives me scrubs as teammates . Then I lose and don't rank up . So I always have to wait till I'm fresh to win.

When I had the match to go to rank S for the first time, I was so stressed I had to keep heavy breathing during the match :D

How do I deal with a losing streak?

Well first... I BREAK MY CONTROLLER IN HALF! THROW MY WII U THROUGH THE WINDOW! AND EAT STRING CHEESE!

I'm pretty stubborn when I get on a losing streak. My mindset is "Okay.. just win one and turn off the game and take a break." But then you never get that one satisfying win. Then it's 5 in the morning and you have to go to sleep. But then you can't have decent sleep because you have nightmares about Splatoon.
You wake up at 12pm and rinse and repeat.

Recently though, I've gotten better at self-assessment. I'm figuring out what I'm doing wrong and adjusting accordingly.

That does happen a lot :) Certainly not a coincidence.

After a few days of progressing back up the S ranks after my last losing streak and completely fooling myself that my big losing streaks were done, yesterday I had yet another one. I was tired of of the thought of having to get back up so I asked my son to get me back up instead. When he was at A+ 96 he received a complete rubbish team and lost. At that point he was tired of playing so I took over and I had an amazing elitre on my team three games in a row (I had to play three to get back up to S)—not only was he a great shot, he was everywhere, chasing down shooters, on the upper enemy level in bluefin depot, having 22/4 k/d ratio, etc. He was rank A but I'm sure it was just his alt account, he was way too good. I thought I'd lose him for my last game as an A+ but he was still on my team and it was an easy win. A rare gift from Splatoon, though I wonder if it was a matchmaking mistake...

I tried to take a walk whenever that happens, leaving my living room and going outside makes me figure out many things I couldn't during the matches.

If splatoon had a replay feature our learning would surely increase!

The only mode that is a huge wash is rainmaker, which sucks because that happens to be my favorite mode. I started a few nights ago at S48 and was doing pretty well on rainmaker (my best mode) and got up to S65. Feeling pretty good, I played another ranked game and that is when things started to fall apart. I know that I have a lot to improve (mainly better movement and sometimes flank timing), but the teammates I had for the next 6 or so matches did not understand the basic mechanics of rainmaker. Pretty much every time the rm shield was broken, my teammates that were literally near it would not take it and I would have to instead take the rm. The worst part was it took about 5 seconds later or so to decide to trying escorting me (no ink path for me), but by that time the enemy team would kill me.

I remember one match was so bad (Kelp Dome), that the rm shield was broken standing right next to our dome, and nobody on my team was picking it up. I saw the enemy team super-jumping near our spawn and I had to frantically get it to their enemy left spawn quad side. I admit that I'm not amazing by any means as the rm carrier and make my fair share of some silly mistakes, but really inking a path for the carrier as well as regaining map control (esp. mid) with our own ink really helps.

I've been observing that when I reach the mid-S's eventually I start getting put on the noticeably weaker team. I just finished a session, starting at about S 52. I thought it was going ok at first but then my teams were repeatedly dominated. I upped my game but it made no difference overall (unsurprisingly) because my teams were generally a lot weaker than the other. To win I would have had to play like a good S+, which I know I'm not. So I ended at S 32.

It's really bothersome...

At that point I switch to Luna Blaster Neo and Special builder on all gear and just blow everything up. Seriously. Any Ranked mode is dominated by Splat Bombs everywhere.

To see which maps and modes I suck, I'm gathering results from my own matches. Whenever I find a number that makes me comfortable I would stop playing this or that map on a particular mode.

Ended last night at S 93, started today a bit rough and sank down to about S 80 but then got up to S 98, only to be followed by losses.

At first the games I was losing were still really close and overall good games though I went back down to the low 80s. Then it switched to splat zones and my teams were getting hammered. I confess that splat zones is my weakest but I'm not that bad to cause my team to be so dominated (my K/D ratio was still good overall, which I think matters in splat zones more than other modes).

It was really stupid, not to mention the inconsistent point award/losses throughout the entire session, and I ended at S 69. Really bothered...

And now back up to S 94 and back down to S 62... Pretty much straight wins and straight losses. One day I won't waste my time playing a game that does ridiculous things like that.

back out of the match, chuck on some Flume, wait 2 minutes, then go back in.
the minute I'm listening to Flume in Ranked, it feels impossible to get stressed.

2) play a different game
3) play turf
