You're not too far off...

yeah, I was kinda wondering if the Fakemon i shared were somehow interpretations of a leak. Like maybe they knew it was gonna be a bird, cat, and seal of some kind and drew what they thought they might look like. Or just pure coincidence.

Either way.

I havent been on SB much so I'm kinda late but my thoughts on it are pretty positive. My expectations weren't very high, but I like the starters enough. I've always been a sucker for grass types and Rowlet is undeniably adorable. (Still feel Chespin got snubbed by Finnekin for the popular/cute vote in 6th gen...)
IMO Litten is the weirdest/least Pokemon-y, but I'm optimistic that they'll all have pretty fierce final evos (Delphox and Chesnaught were WEIRD...)

Also, I think the cover legendaries are easily the best designs since Groudon and Kyogre. Honestly, they're beautiful.

I'm pretty excited for Sun/moon myself. Its a great breath of fresh air from the constant remakes. I would much rather have sequels to these various generations rather than visiting them again in HD.

The remakes and new gens are released in equal intervals, though.
It really doesn't matter how few and far in between each remake is. I personally am tired of them. Each region has potential to grow and expand. Instead Game freak panders to the fans that live on nostalgia.

But they always, except for X/Y, have a sequel that does exactly that, expand on the current region. Yellow, Crystal, Emerald, Platinum and BW2 (moreso the last 3).

Strange that X/Y hasn't had another Kalos expansion sequel. Unless of course Sun & Moon IS the Kalos expansion. I don't think they've said yet where it is. But it doesn't LOOK like it's Kalos unless it's tackling the subject of the usage of Pokemon for Kalos' colonial expansion into nonaligned territories. :P

@birdiebee COMPLETELY off topic but I figured you'd find it amusing to know that I ended up using your Genieshot Jr. for most of the Splatfest and have ended up adopting it as one of my pseudo mains :P I hate the general purpose shooters, so that one fits the bill more than most stacked with run speed and some swim speed. Ugh. I've sunken that low. Thanks, rigged matchmaker! ;) Though I still prefer Sploosh for the role more in most maps.

A three-second google search would reveal to you that this takes place in the all-new Alola region with what appears to be a new engine.

It's Hawaii. The region is called Alola. That and the japanese trailer for the game pretty much throws it in your face that it's hawaii. We could have an endgame that invloves going to kalos by plane or whatever and doing endgame stuff there, but that's all speculation for now.

I fear my usual Nintendo news sites have been slacking off, apparently. All this info has come out about the new Pokemon games and they haven't posted a peep about it. That's what happens with a redesign I guess?

Sounds like a cool region, but I wonder why they were so quick to scrap Kalos. More evidence that X/Y was kind of half-baked and rushed out I suppose. I kind of liked it but I suppose Kalos lacked personality in a way.

So not only do you not research your talking points, but you use it to be negative too? Seriously?

Every region gets abandoned after one generation. Every single one. The only exceptions are remakes and when Satoru Iwata programmed Kanto into Gold/Silver. It's been 3 years since X and Y, the usual amount of time between generations. How is that ANY indication of Kalos being "half baked"? Can you talk about ANYTHING without putting a negative spin on it!?

Oh, and if your Nintendo news sites aren't covering a new Pokemon game, something that's always kind of an event, that's on you for using shoddy and inferior news sites.

The 3rds to every gen (sans B/W2) are usually there to polish or "finish" that region to make it whole. Yellow was just Red/Blue: Anime edition IMO. B/W2 did a little of what I really wanted in a 3rd; adding more cities and life to the region with the ability to see the older region the MC from B/W came from. If they more things like that + AS/OR's Hoenn remodel and slap it all in a sequel I think I'd die rather happy. I would like to return to Sinnoh but I want to return to a Sinnoh that has either grown, shrunk, or changed in some other fashion in a bigger way.

Anyway.. this might be going off topic so I apologize.=\ Anyone else here choosing Popplio and Pokemon Moon or will it just be me?

Chill haha xD

Kalos didn't get the spotlight/attention it deserved or could have had, and it probably would've been better to give a sequel to the Kalos Region like a lot of the regions beforehand. If you look at the artistic map of Kalos, you'll notice that there is a lot of space that was left unused. There was also a bunch of unanswered questions like how Zygarde fitted into the game. If you go talk to a lot of Pokemon fans, you'll find that they often find Kalos as a half-baked region; and I'd know - I'm very active in a large Pokemon forum.

Popplio is my favourite, and I prefer the Moon legendary of the Sun legendary, so it looks like I'd theoretically by choosing the same as you! ^.^

As a question to you guys, which starter do you think will get the final best evolution? I'm thinking Rowlet at the moment, since it's very easy to expand small bird Pokemon. I didn't really like Litten itself, so I doubt the final Stage will be appealing to me. From the fanart I've seen, Popplio's final evolution is commonly thought to be a fat clown seal, which I don't really like the idea of at all. To be honest, thinking up a good Stage 2 for Popplio is difficult. :/

Giratina had no plot in it's original appearance as well. That happened in Platinum. Same with many other legendaries. Not the best example. Also, what forum? Your credentials are meaningless and add no weight to your statements.

And regardless of the region itself, this was the first fully 3D Pokemon game. Rendering 700+ mons must've been a ton of work. There's a lot more to pokemon games than just the locations.

Cyrus summoned Giratina at the top of the Spear Pillar in Platinum and then you went into the Distortion World and got a whole extra dungeon/plot point absent from D/P.

( @Dessgeega holy **** i feel like i owe you an apology for entirely misreading your post and responding incredibly moronically. ahhhhh this is embarrassing lmao)

No one is arguing that rendering so many models was easy. Even still, the first fully 3D Pokemon game has no excuse for feeling more lifeless than its 2D predecessors. It's so obvious how much untapped potential there was for the region, exceedingly apparent in the lack of XY2 or Z version.

However I wasn't even really interested enough in the region to have the patience for a Z entry. I was ready for gen 7 before ORAS.

The remakes always add a lot more content to the source material, too! Some or maybe a lot is nostalgia pandering, but everything from the Sevii islands to the revamped plot of ORAS seems like Gamefreak always tries to add enough new content to the remakes to justify re-releasing an older game.

I believe though with gen 7, we'll have a gen 5 scenario where Gamefreak waits until the following gen/console to do another remake. So, I don't think we'll be seeing Swag Diamond and Blingy Pearl versions on 3DS, but rather on NX o;

With gen 6 at least, I felt there was an inverse relationship between the cuteness of the starter and the coolness of the final evo...
Chespin was the cutest IMO. Chesnaught was a goofy Buzz Lightyear-looking abomination.
Finnekin was kinda cute. Delphox was weird and had a lot of ear hair.
Froakie was a freak let's be honest. But it hit puberty and became one of the most badass mons in recent memory.

Not that that's a consistent pattern with all previous gens, but if it is anything to go off of, we could be about to witness the most legendary clown seal of all time:

I'm not here to have an argument. Legendaries are one. New locations is another. Following tradition is yet another, if you're one of those. I believe there are also a few characters that never got fully developed backstories (leading to plot holes/questions). But my point is you don't need to attack anyone for being negative. :p

If you're not here for an argument, why did you even address me in the first place? I got a little fed up with the guy and said as such. That would've been the end of it if you hadn't come along. It's none of your business.

@bbninjas In terms of design? Probably Litten, In terms of stats? MAYBE Popplio. In terms of ability? maybe Rowlet if it gets Gale Wings.

@birdiebee I like how you apologized for misreading my message but didn't change the actual response at all. Gotta stand by your statements, huh?

Anyway, you're entitled to your opinions. I said my piece.

As for the starters, I'm guessing Litten will potentially have the best evolution. Fire starters are often powerhouses, and that could conceivably become really badass looking if they try to avoid stepping on the toes of already existing cat mons (Pyroar and sun legendary are totally different you guys!).

Eh. I may consider it. If I do end up playing it, Litten would be my stater of choice since I am a fire type specialist. My heart in the line of fire type starters will still be with Typhlosion, that lovely beast of a fire type pokemon.
