Maybe they'll release the H3 Nozzlenose fina--wait, it was already in the game since release?! Okay, okay, how about the variant then so we can forget that exists as well? :p
Congratulations on your new foolhardy ambitious task, @Saber!
Now we have to burn down your thread for not being meta focused while making vague "competitive viability" remarks. Now someone give me a light; I've got a nice housewarming coktail present to send over! :D
But seriously, just let us know when or with what you'll need help and you may receive it!
Ah man, so many options to choose from! A Splash-o-matic that doesn't suck would be awesome, and autobomb spam... would be fun for 15 minutes before I start hating it.
I like the Tuber's set as it is, so I don't feel any need for its alt, but hey, bring it on!
I'm assuming the kit is Suction + Inkjet like it says in the datamine, and if so that's definitely my preferred Rapid Blaster, suction bombs all day ery day!
Ah, that's what it'll be this week, eh? Well, I'm not giving up Bomb Rush for the Ink Jet thank you very much, so this is another one that Sheldon can keep. God, that makes the entirity of January's weapons releases a no-go for me...
Inkjet on any blaster just seems redundant to me. Now you can do the same thing you were already doing, but off the ground! It has a better subweapon but on a whole this seems iffy, personally.
I’m sure some people will be really good with this, but the range blaster has the same sub and a better special and one hit kill potential (two hit guaranteed kill). This is definitely a viable alternative for anyone who loves the inkjet or simply hates the range blaster outright. Just doubt it’s going to be for me. I’ve been hoping for a long time that they change their mind on the special. Ink armor or splash down would be perfect in this kit.

But yeah, as a blaster enthusiast myself, I'm not liking this weapon. Suction bomb doesn't help the rapid blaster up close (mines did), and as many of you know, the inkjet is not a panic button. So, in close quarters, the vanilla rapid pulls through. What about in killing potential? What about painting? The vanilla without a special loses this, but once it gets a special, it leaves the deco in the dust. As the deco has to rely on just suction bombs to paint. And if you're doing that, why not play the range blaster?
The only situation I can see this weapon being used over the vanilla is if you're locked out of mid and you're trying to paint or get a kill. However, with the rapid blaster's naturally good range, it doesn't have to stretch out too far to secure a kill. Also, being able to capture the zone quickly or painting around the map with splat bomb rush is definitely a nice thing to have.
I haven't addressed my biggest issue with this kit (and it might be your's too), the inkjet
Do I think the inkjet is bad? Not really, some weapons can make it work, like the custom blaster, the L-3D, and the splattershot (you could argue the octobrush too) But what do these weapons have in common? They don't have much range, and they can all be played aggressively. Playing aggressive, on the front lines, or even flanking, allow these weapons to get into good locations for an inkjet. Think about a Map like Walleye Warehouse.
As you may know, you can pop an inkjet below the isolated box on their side of the map (the one just by their side of the zone), and rise above that box. And with that, you can transition to the closed area to the side, or push forward into their spawn. Which puts you (the smart inkjet user) very high up and allows you to smite your enemies easily. Also, the position of where you popped inkjet, is a common location for a custom blaster, or a short ranged weapon to shark in. But with the rapid deco, you awkwardly over extend into that position.
My last problem with inkjet on the rapid is somewhat redundant. Since the rapid already has a lot of range to play with / doesn't really need an inkjet to get rid of ranged targets.
Overall, if this weapon wasn't a blaster (a weapon type I'm familiar with), I doubt I would play it. Suction bomb doesn't offer much more than an ink mine to the rapid, and the inkjet is nothing compared to splat bomb rush for the rapid blaster.

I agree with everything you’ve said here. I suppose the inkjet can be good in clams when making a push, but the bomb rush is even better for that. You’d have to REALLY love the inkjet or really love suctions (or both).
Eh, it's nothing exciting. I tend to beleive that most people might want to stick with the normal one though, considering the Rapid Blaster isn't a weapon that relies on sub weapons very much.
It is one of the few weapons that can make use of Ink Mines better than most weapons that have them right now, and Splat Bomb Rush is considered to be a much better special than Inkjet at this point in time.

I don't hate the Range Blaster, but it is slow as hell, so I've always preferred using Rapid Blasters. Once the Burst Bomb variant comes out though, maybe I'll love it like I did the Grim Range in Splat1.
In my personal opinion, Octobrush has a better set than Nouveau, but if you're prioritizing infiltrating the enemy team and screwing them around with inkmines, then nouveau is the way to go.

Rapid is better on days when my aim is terrible, but it doesn’t feel so slow anymore when I’m getting directs. Range blaster allows for aggressive murder runs the rapid just can’t do. Then again, I feel like rapid is a defensive weapon and range is a slaying weapon.
I quit S1 before grim dropped, but I’m excited for the prospect of burst comboing.
I personally like nouveau more because i like beakons and tentamissiles much more than autobombs and inkjet, but the regular one probably has more potential due to having ranged attacks. Nouveau is more sneaky, while the regular octobrush can pressure opponents with its bombs. However beakons are fun because you can get urself and ur teammates back into the fray (pretty fast too if you use some sub power up)
