oioioi! thats a fair amount of reading regarding turf wars in competitive xP

We should include turf wars in the "lower end" of competitive, for more casual players to enjoy in the lower stakes tournaments and as a possible bridge to playing more of the ranked modes (which is exactly how it's setup in game for solo queue ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ )

But more importantly

I want the dark Tetras tomorrow! (fat chance that'll happen, but still)
I say we'll get . . .
new squiffer =x

DID SOMEBODY SAY NEW SQUIFFER?!?!

Tbh I have been waiting a long time for this weapon, I need my main back in my life especially if the kit is as good as I think is, that is what I am placing my bets on at least

Fun fact: since the game came out, none of the weapons that have Bomb Launchers as their special were released, so I wouldn't be surprised if the chicken stampede Tri Slosher Nouveau or Neo Splash-o-matic came out.

With that said, I'm pretty sure the Tetra Dualies will come out alongside the new map that was announced with it, later this month, or in March.

That Neo Splash-o-matic looks niceeee. Perfect for that person in your life who begrudgingly plays the nZap but really loves the Aero. Not sure if it'll be strong enough to be full-on meta, but that's a fun kit on a fun gun. I hope that's what it'll be but my heart since it's that tri.

I've been wanting the Neo Splash since launch and seeing its kit. The issue with the vanilla Splash is that it got lumbered with a special that was nerfed into oblivion and paired with a sub that only recently became beneficial to use now it has less white ink. I really got into Neo Splash in the original game, so I'll be right at home with this one. I can see this becoming a meta weapon, as near the end of Splatoon 1's life span Splash became a very popular choice due to its ability to spit out Suction Bomb Rush like no tomorrow. Of course in that game the last 4 Suction Bombs usually detonated after the special ended and would fill a big portion of your meter up again, so each bomb rush fed into the next on a weapon that paints extremely rapidly.

I don't follow competitive, but I know enough about it that double N-ZAP 85 comps are the domineering force, due to the ability to spam out Ink Armor and being combined with a good sub weapon. With Splatoon 2 having maps that better favour the short ranged weapons, having a Neo Splash on your side will become very desirable on all modes. It will be able to take a ton of turf with ease, use Burst Bombs to push the enemy back and deal chip damage to assist teammates with kills and then throw out Suction Bomb Launcher when it's charged to take a ton of map control and push further forwards. This weapon has the best of both kits from the original game (Inkzooka was perfectly fine, but made it overshadowed by the Tentatek and Carbon Roller), and I can see it being very valuable in Splat Zones, and it will take the Aerospray's place in Turf Wars due to the (rather unneeded) nerf of it's painting power, so be prepared for fun Splatfests when that thing drops.

Personally I feel that we'll see the Sorella Brella, we haven't got any variant of a Brella yet so it would seem logical we'll get the Sorella soon, especially if they decide to drop out a bomb launcher weapon. There's 2 sloshers left versus 3 brellas so it gives more weight to the Sorella being before another Slosher.

As I final note, I have a rough idea into the weakness of the Tetra Dualies and it's going to revolve around ink consumption. They'll either eat up more ink naturally all the time (which would make them bad), or they'll use up a lot more ink per dodge roll. I'm taking this from a passage that appeared on the SplatoonUS Tumblr:

"The Dark Tetra Dualies feature four ink-ejecting nozzles that allow you to execute up to four dodge rolls in a row!"

Four nozzles would mean they use twice as much ink as the regular dualies, so if that's the basis for the additional rolls that'll more than likely be the basis for the Achilles Heel of the Tetras. You can read the post for yourself here

I believe we've yet to get an alt kit for a weapon that wasn't in the game at the launch. If they hold to that, which I think they probably will atleast until Tetra's release, that narrows the options down to H-3, Splash, Luna, Clash, Carbon, Tri, and Mini. Naturally of these I want the Tri-Slosher the most, but the Mini has just as much chance as neither weapon type has seen a new weapon in two months. There still being 4 blasters and 4 shooters left makes H-3 n co very possible as well, and it's been over 3 months since the last roller, so I can see Carbon Roller too, but it's the last Roller so they might hold on to it a bit longer.

"...execute up to four dodge rolls in a row!"
"up to four dodge rolls in a row!"
"four dodge rolls"
Oh I am going to love this weapon.
But when it comes to new weapons, I hope that the next one will be a weapon that hasn't gotten the attention it deserves. We've been getting a lot of new shooters and dualies lately. It would be nice to get something outside of those two categories.

Don't you get my hopes up about that Splash-o-matic, good sir. I've been looking forward to that since I saw the datamine; The vanilla Splash is just about the only Turf Wars-viable weapon I can use, and therefore the only Splatfest weapon I have at my disposal :<

How is it that you can use the Splash but not the Splattershot? :L

But the Inkbrush wasn't in the game at launch and the Inkbrush Nouveau was released >.>
Derp, well perhaps they made an exception since there's very few brushes and they didn't want to go for so long without releasing a new one.

There's something about the rate of fire and precision that feels better in my virtual hands. Longer range weapons also work well with me, but many aren't as great in Turf Wars. A usual backup is the Dualie Squelchers, but they can only do so much with their kit.

Well, I'm disappointed because I didn't get what I want, just like most of you I assume :P Point Sensors and Splat Bomb Launcher isn't bad, but it's a hard sell over the vanilla kit.

Aw yes! I've been waiting for this one. Point Sensors worked so well with the Slosher in S1 and Bomb Rush is definitely better than Sting Ray.

Only so much, whut!? That kit is great! Between Point Sensors and Tenta Missles you pretty much always know where the enemy is. They also have great synergy together, as unless you're playing with friends and using voicechat, then Tenta Missles don't reveal for your teammates, but that's where Point Sensors comes in! I was actually planning on using the Dualie Squelchers for the majority of the Splatfest, but it seems I'll have to change my plans!

Not me, this is the weapon I've wanted most of all, so I'm super stoked that it's arriving far sooner than expected! It's an easy sell for me over the vanilla, as while it's kit is certainly good, it's doesn't fit as well with my playstle. I like to be spreading ink constantly, and up close to the objective. Technically Autobomb does spread a little ink while Point Sensor doesn't, but Point Sensor doesn't force as much downtime after using. Stingray I have to back out in order to use, and it spreads no ink, so naturally I'll gladly take Splat Bomb Rush instead!

I agree that it has a great kit; it's my second most used weapon behind the vanilla Jet (and it's quickly rising to the top), but I just can't make it work in Turf Wars unfortunately. I'm sure it's something beyond the weapon itself and more my playstyle.

I'd be interested in finding out why, because I excel with the weapon in turf. It's got the Splattershot's fire rate with the longer range of the heavier shooters. Like the Jet isn't not the best for getting every last corner but it's amazing for quick general painting over a very large area. Unless you're talking about combat woes, which boils down to abusing the range and dodge rolls :P

Damn it, I was actually going to pin my guess on the Neo Sloshing Machine, but I couldn't realistically see this releasing prior to the alt Tri-Slosher. That and looking at the list of weapons left made me consider the possibility of the Sorella Brella being soon as we've yet to get an alt of a Brella. Ah well, this will get me back into playing the Sloshing Machine, something I neglected for a long time now. Since we now have the buff of Point Sensors where white ink is more reasonable and the ink consumption is low, this will be the perfect kit for the Machine. Autobombs are great weapons, but they use a ton of ink and have an awful lot of white ink, which goes badly with the Machine's ink hungry nature and as people have said, a bomb launcher will be a better fit on a weapon in the fray as Sting Ray requires a quick duck behind cover approach, at least here you can spit splat bombs everywhere and still use your main weapon to combo kill, and the point sensor will work well with the Machine's cheeky "lob over the wall" chip damage strat, as you get an aiming line to help deal damage. Don't get me wrong, I love using Sting Ray, but I have a better fit for it by way of the 52 Deco, so this can go well with my desires. I think my mains are becoming more definite, and will be the 96 Deco, 52 Deco, Neo Sloshing Machine and Neo Splash. I'm just grateful we had such a bad weapon launch last week, only saw one Custom Goo Tuber in the entirety of my time in the EU Splatfest, whereas this will be rather common amongst the players, after all there aren't many great weapons with Bomb Launchers :P

Ah yes, the sloshing machine neo. A weapon that I've learned to love very recently. It's got one of the best AoE damage sources in the game, being able to completely murder someone trying to climb up a wall. And the point sensor can make your job of detecting opponents behind walls that much easier. Plus, the special helps the main weapon (that can't turf to save its life) paint the floor in a fast burst.

However, I don't think this weapon will see much use competitively. While it looks viable and seems to work in some team compositions, whenever I see this weapon, I ask myself: "Why not the vanilla rapid blaster", which covers turf faster with more range (and the mines help it combo up close + help defend the objective). And while point sensors help the sloshing machine harass people behind cover (what it does best), it doesn't help it when it's completely locked out of the fight, since it relies on the special to get back in. I was kind of hoping this weapon got something like a suction bomb or a splat bomb to get back into the fray, but this kit doesn't seem bad. I don't see myself using it over the vanilla sloshing machine or the vanilla rapid any time soon though.

Oh my yes, I've been waiting for this one (no surprise since I already use the Rapid Blaster and sloshers almost exclusively). The point sensor is the obvious combo with the lobs, yeah. It's also a better "panic" weapon than the RB because of the faster attack rate and wider shot radius. I'll probably favor it over the RB in more close-quarter maps, like Fitness, and in more uneven ones, like Pumptrack.
