I chose chicken because I want to play with the white paint, but it seems like everyone is choosing egg so maybe go egg if you want to win Splatfest.

I suppose one could argue that what will become the chicken is growing inside the egg before it’s officially laid, but that could spark a whole other debate about when life begins, and... it might get too political :p

I've already thought of a solution to this.

Don't like the nature of the question? Interpret it differently. Make the question more palatable!

"What would you rather eat? Chicken or eggs?"

There we go! You know what? EAT MOR CHIKIN!

The animal chickens evolved from definitely laid eggs. Eggs were a thing that existed billions of years down the evolutionary chain, so it's definitely just egg. A non-chicken laid a chicken egg, and that's just how it works. The chicken came from that egg.

Taken metaphorically, it also doesn't work because it's a flawed/incorrect metaphor. Metaphors are meaningless when you're using incorrect information. As a writer, my editor would very fairly blast me if I used a metaphor as flawed as the chicken/egg thing. I refuse to even call it an "argument" because it isn't.
OK, I agree (and with your rant as well, but I’m replying to your main post.) Buut I’m still going Chicken because of the matchmaking, the ink color, and because by coincidence I have always chosen Marina so far. (I chose Love last fest, and there were more Love vs. Love matches than LvM ones.)

Splatfest's getting philosophical.
Boycott this Splatfest.

Our choice doesn't matter.

This question is an illusion.

The answer doesn't exist.

This is religious/origin story propaganda.

The truth is out of reach.

We will never obtain it.

Let us break this cycle.

Beat the pre-determined outcome.

Prove we cannot be controlled.

Choose nothing for the Splatfest.

And seek our own enlightenment.

Okay rank jumping is the most bizarre thing ever, granted I had a pretty big winstreak of knockouts and only one loss, but why does this exist in the first place? I don't see how I could have done anything particularly special to warrant this. Had a few matches where I only got a few assists, or didn't contribute much at all, and with only one loss I don't quite understand what deems a rank skip worthy of being received. I suppose this is continuing my love affair with the L3 Nozzlenose though, I definitely feel that this weapon is more capable than the Splattershot Pro, whilst being a burst weapon the shots land quicker and closer and it isn't as slow or with as bad of a kit (the Forge is a different story because Bubble Blower). But overall I felt I didn't play all that well, I was more of a contribution to some assists, turf control and special spam with Baller. I'll go grab my previous match history and see what that was:

upload_2018-3-3_21-57-23.png

Now for match stats, from bottom to top (first match to rank up essentially):

Displayed as if in SplatNet (Kills + Assists, Deaths, Specials Used, Turf, Match Duration)

Win - 4(3), 0, 2, 447p 1:12
Win - 8(2), 5, 4, 1120p 3:51
Win - 5(2), 4, 2, 647p 2:10
Win - 17(8), 5, 6, 1232p 4:30
Win - 7(2), 5, 3, 1056p 3:41
Loss - 6(3), 9, 4, 1136p 4:23
Win - 8(1), 6, 4, 989p 3:23
Win - 10(4), 5, 6, 1455p 5:00 (timeout - 79 to 52)

The only thing most of these have in common is the volume of turf covered, and being one of the best painters in the match for all 8 players. I was contesting Zone a lot and capturing or neutralising it, so that could count for some of the requirements to get the skip. Assists seem to average out at around 2-3 per game, with deaths averaging at 5 and specials at 4. With the knockouts they all happened in under 4 minutes bar one and the knockout loss was 4:23. So what happened here was 6 Knockouts, 1 Time Out and 1 Knockout Defeat with high turf, contesting the zones, getting a fair few specials and assists out and not dying too much. How the game weighs up each factor I don't know, but I do have a feeling it takes into account how much you contribute to the object, whether it's painting zone, riding tower, taking Rainmaker, getting clams in the basket etc. as one of the larger reasons to rank jump. The fact my stats are fairly balanced throughout might be a reason why the game deems you worthy, you didn't focus on any one "stat" and instead got an all around result - good kills, good assists, good deaths, good turf, good objective time. I doubt we'll get any closer to solving this mystery but it's interesting nonetheless. Anyway now time to not play Splat Zones and hike my Tower and Rainmaker ranks to 25 from 16 and 15 respectively (Clam Blitz can take a hike, will play it in Ranked, but not focusing on rank ups there :P).

Goby is pretty fun so far. I wish they would open the net though. And I like the styling of the Dark Tetra Dualies - derringer plus sneakers.

What if it's because you got so many Knockouts?

Ranking jump work on how many game you can win without cracking the rank up gauge, rewarding skilled play and cooperation
(ergo if you can go through x number of games with less than 2 losses, you are likely belong in a higher tier)

It is weird system but as far as I can gather that is what I have concluded the idea behind these weird rank jump is.
It also kinda served as a way to let profreshional vetran quickly level back up S+ for tourney qualifications

If anyone wants a sneak preview of the new Shifty Station for next week here it is (footage by Silver):

There are 3 chambers that get closed off during the match, one in mid, and 2 mirror ones at either side of the map. They close off once and remain shut forever, so capturing the turf in all 3 will be key to victory. I'm going to go out on a limb and say I don't think you'll be able to super jump to teammates once they close off, as single player super jump triggers open once the area closes off. You get a few notifications during the match, most likely one stating the areas are about to close, and one that says it's in the process of closing, so you get a good heads up if you haven't played the match before. It's a pretty impressive design, and one of their most creative yet, but who knows if it'll be for the better or worse. As for the Japanese Splatfest, the colour scheme for the 2 teams was beautiful and looked really nice, and Flowers beat Dumplings in both Solo and Team, getting them the win against the slightly more popular Dumpling team. So far I'm really looking forward to this map, lots of strategy to use and more interesting than chucking 3 cannons on a map and making it too wide.

I love how big and spacious it is; certainly a good map where flanking from the sides are key in competetive modes.

I've been keeping an eye on the splatfest and so far it seems to be an even split among the player base in my friends list... so it looks like so fsr it is going to be a fairly balanced match

I choose Chicken, both due to my own beliefs, and also cause it is simply a cool color and the at shirt design matches alot of my gear that I usually use for the splatfests

I have seen the new map and it looks like it will be fun, player will jave to priotize other areas around these zone so they can capture them easier, and those who stay inside will get to enjoy the splatoon fight club, probably will do something stupid while in there

1st rule of splatoon fight club there is no splatoon fight club
2nd rule of splatoon fight club no chargers in splatoon fight club..........(brings in an eliter)

....well at least I tried:p
