FINALLY my 9th course is completed.

"Above and Below", C8F6-0000-00A9-C3E5

Despite the level map that you'll see, this is mostly an underwater level. The concept here is the idea of optional powerups. As usual, there are plenty in the level. But if you're simply following a linear path, you'll mostly only find mushrooms. However, you can make things easier on yourself if you go out of your way a bit to find Fire Flowers, which as you know are pretty useful in water levels. Search for secrets (there's a hint to one right on the map), look for out of the way areas, and try to find those! There are 1-ups hidden too, as usual.

Also, I apologize in advance for the rather mean final sequence. ....Well, okay, no I dont. But yes, that part is.... challenging. If at all possible, you really want a fire flower there. My advice: Take that section VERY slowly. If you're finding yourself overwhelmed, find a safe-ish spot and hold still until the encroaching doom passes by, and then continue. It's not actually as hard as it looks....

I seem to be doing pretty well so far, as I'm now sitting at 202 stars after 9 levels. The only downside of course is how long they take to make....

Okay, I was bored so I decided to go play a lot of levels, from this thread and the other one. (WHY DO WE HAVE TWO THREADS!?)

Anyway, I believe I played all the levels of, @Lazarus , @ThatSquidYouKnow , @Wonder Blue ,@Azure_Kyte , and @kuma9k .

I also finished the new level from @Misery (Great job!), and finally got off my lazy butt and finished Pirahna Plant Cave from @ILikeKirbys .

All the levels I played I starred. Thanks for the couple hours of Mario platforming guys.
Oh, that was you!? Your love pushed me over 100 Stars! :'D I appreciate it. Cavern Quest (the level with link) I made after playing a few of your levels. You could even say it was inspired!

If a player named Jimi binge plays your levels, that's a friend of mine who I told about them.

So, i've finally finished my second course after about a week of work. I feel pretty proud of myself, although based on playing it - it might not seem like a week went into making it, huh. Well i'm still a novice after all, and thinking up level ideas is still difficult. I had to scrap together an ending because I couldn't really think of something too good.

ANYWAYS: Here it it is, the second stage I put any real effort in: "Bone Marrow Caves" 94D6-0000-00B5-3877
Implemented another checkpoint system into this level, and even if you've played my previous level - you won't be able to cheat the system. At least.. I hope so

Anyways, tell me what you think! I'm always open to criticism and I really enjoy making things that people like

I'll play all of the levels posted once the servers are back on and I'm done practicing with my group.

Okay, thanks for the heads up. Also, I really enjoyed Cavern Quest. I can't get enough of those Zelda Mario Maker levels. Also, thanks for the kind works.

It's fine. I really need to get back into Splatoon myself, especially now that I own it. It's just a matter of finding time to.

It's a very time consuming game. But it's also extremely fun, and extremely salt inducing.

I'm glad you had fun with Cruel Cavern. It's one of those that took some time to properly edit and make sure that everything was at least passable.

Yeah, he had a moment where he just wanted to do Starman Endurance runs. It's his ideas though, so I cannot judge really.
That's being a good friend. And I'm surprised on the low clear rate of those Starman levels. I think it had like a 7% on some of them? I question the skills of some of the people on Mario Maker.

You can say that again. When I was renting Splatoon, I would spend hours on end playing turf wars. That's why I got to level 15 so fast before owning it.

I think it was mostly people who didn't know how the Starman Endurance runs worked. Though I do also question some people skills in Mario too, though I know my skills with the game are not that great either.

Yeah, when I played with randoms, I quickly rose to Level 13. I kinda stopped for some reason. Most likely fear. I'm over it now.

I thought it was rather clear the moment the level loaded up. There's a bunch of enemies and there's a row of blocks right before them. One of them was even called "Find the Starman"! Then again, when Short Castle was up, people couldn't beat it to save their life and that's super easy. If they couldn't do Short Castle then Bowser's Last Stand will make them rage-quit faster than ever before.

I thought it as clear cut too~ I guess the deaths say otherwise. Goes to show that there is a dumb part of the Super Mario Maker community. Either that or they don't pay attention to titles, like AT ALL.

One thing I learned while playing SMM is that people just want an easy ride. Because randoms are most likely going to run into your level in 100 Mario Challenge, the moment there's a tricky part and they die: SKIP. Which in turns puts the level into Expert and those with skill come across it and they go: Why is this an Expert course? I've ran into some seriously unfair courses in Expert, but also really easy courses due to what I said earlier. I feel bad for people who make really fun levels that get skipped after the first death because of the player's incompetence.

Okay, you got me there. That would make sense really. I can understand skipping an impossible level, but skipping a clear cut level due to ONE DEATH, is proof that you are pathetic child wanting everything to be easy and not full of death. I'm sorry we cannot serve the easiest levels to you on silver platter! It's too boring when something is SO piss easy that you get bored half way through the level.

Exactly, the fact that the game forces you to play Expert if you want all the amiibo costumes at one point is also a driving force behind this. And I had boring as hell courses, and I removed them because there's NO challenge. If I'm not having fun, then I doubt they're having fun too. So to get stars, just make the courses like you always do. Unless you badly need to upload courses, then in that case, just make Auto Levels and Music Levels.

Yeah. Though, the downside with expert is something that has been already stated, the IMPOSSIBLE levels. But yeah, moving on. I do see a lot of Mario Levels be Auto Mario (aka MAD) and Music Levels. Those tend to get a lot of attention and comments. I would agree it would be good for stars but I'm not sure how many are willing to spend hours on making such levels. Not everyone has patience with such level making, which may be the reason why more are not made in America. That's me making guesses, though. However, you'll see a lot of MAD levels from Japan players of Super Mario Maker. So it's preference really I guess.

I have over 300 Stars and I just did my thing. And a little help from this community too, so thank you for the stars. Music levels sound like fun, but I won't make an Auto Level. My major pet peeve with expert is death doors (you go into and you die), Kaizo blocks (You fall into a ditch and it looks like you can get out of it alright, but then invisible blocks block you way out forcing you to either redo the level or what I normally do, skip it), and the moment a level starts: THWOMP to your death. Easy skip there.

It's been a while since I made a level... But I'm working on one right now. It'll be a Metroid themed level, but in gameplay, because most of the "Metroid Levels" I've seen are just regular ones that slap on a Samus costume. This'll probably be a big project, and might span 3-4 stages or so. And I'm sorry that I haven't played a lot of levels, I'm more of a level maker tbh. :)

Yeah. Though I have been guilty of the invisible blocks trap, but I don't overuse it. I tend to use that trick only in boo houses at least once, but it's rarely done and in a place less traveled more often than not. I only did one door of death but you get coins though. Yay coins! I don't really do stuff like that often though. I hate the sudden thwomp of death though. Those kinda troll levels are uncalled for and unnecessary, but they exist sadly.

I'm a level creator more than a player myself, though I am considering to play other levels for the heck of it. Maybe I can get more attention to mine in the long run. I'm not in need of any stars, but the boost in stars always helps.

Be careful not to double post. I don't want to see you get in trouble. :( Edit your post if it's the last one in the topic so you won't get in trouble in the future.

And I'm more of a player than a level maker. I love handing stars out to people. If I can give as many as I want, why not abuse that. lol But I do like making levels quite a lot.

Don't worry. I reported my double post. It should be gone soon.

Anyway, yeah. I'm more a creator due to the whole Little Big Planet mind set. I created levels in the LBP series a lot and it's plenty of fun~

Oh, thank goodness.

I guess it's just me, but I couldn't get into LBP despite buying DLC for it. The physics were a little too wonky for me to make anything with. But I'm glad you found passion in making stuff for others to enjoy. :)

Yeah. Though some of my creations kinda sit on the moon do to upload limitations. Some I just create and never upload because I enjoy them too much to see them be beat down by others. I'm kinda weird like that.
