Inkling Fleet Admiral
Woah now, I wasn't holding my initial confusion against the game. I mean, it was obvious from the initial footage that they were doing something different; that it could be interpreted as either a sequel or enhanced port was largely irrelevant in light of the fact that it clearly was, well, a new game. Once the trailer hit and they called it Splatoon 2, that was that. If anyone is still in the dark about the matter, that's on them.Surely it's not that much more powerful, but failing to the point of not being able to tell if a game is a sequel or not is a little too laughable of a performance.
Of course, you could argue about whether or not it should've been called a sequel to begin with, but that's another matter entirely.
Granted, that's as much of an issue there as it is here. At least CoD and FIFA have the benefit of what I'd call "Market Assumption" (that is, those franchises are now expected to pump a new game out every year) to hide behind. Would that more variation between games became the industry standard; alas, ðem's the breaks when 'tis what it is.You must hate so many games then, since marginal visual differences across franchises is such a common thing these days. There's really no point in attempting to discuss this with you.
I'd still say that the sudden release date is responsible for Splatoon 2's not-overly-different graphics. And it isn't even that bad, honestly. Everything they've shown so far—the new Inkling hairdos, the Splat Dualies and reskinned main weapons, the complete overhaul of the specials, the new story and Salmon run, the new hub area—most if not all of it goes to sell the game as a true sequel.
