  • I had a lot of fun playing tonight. I lost most of my games in open but I was really feeling it anyway so I did series and won 3 games on my ticket before I lost one.

I dunno I'm just really enjoying myself. And I did some good plays with reefslider because I was patient and predicted well where people were going to go and it was just so satisfying :D
What a weird weekend. I have the highest win rate right now that I think I may have ever had in ranked, including a 6 win streak at one point. But I don't feel like I'm necessarily playing better, it just feels like my enemies are playing worse. Maybe everyone who takes the game seriously was grinding eggstra work or something?
Would anyone else like to revive the old dragon-eggs-in-forum-signatures trend with me on squidboards specifically. cmon it'll be fun and silly.

i have already had an egg get sick since coming back to this site LOL. tip: don’t put eggs/hatchlings on fansites when they’re still a whole 7 days away from dying

also fsr egg/hatchling graphics don’t update in signatures here >:/ ive had eggs hatch but still show as eggs in my signature. what gives

Yeah I looked into it Xenforo apparently uses a weird proxy image caching function. It's supposed to be useful but in this case it is frustrating 3: I want everyone to see my babies. I wonder how often it refreshes, if at all.

forum software forced my dragons into states of suspended animation. cant have 🦑 in splatsville

the hatchlings in my signature right now show up after originally being there as eggs, but i removed them for a day or so (because im still on high alert about sickness LOL). removing an egg and then putting it back soon after doesn't seem to fix the image though. guess i'll see what happens with the eggs i've got now
This might be the first splatfest I've won where I felt like I may have actually helped my team more than I hurt them, lol. I didn't get to play much but what I did play at least we won more often than we lost (including winning the 10x we had!).
I always forget there's an option to follow specific people on this site and I never use it because I already look at every post that is made anyway, lol
I am noticing a trend wherein the past several sessions that I've played, the first game I'll get this absurdly high kill count and then the rest are just kind of average.

I am not sure what to do with this information but a larger sample size may be required before I spend a bunch of brain energy making theories when I could be actually learning things, lol
Lately I enjoy tower control if only because there's a lot of blasters and I've recently gotten so much more confident fighting blasters that I get excited now whenever I get that opportunity, hah.

@Hokuto it probably depends on a lot of factors but my problem was instinctively backing up when I saw them when they tend to actually panic a bit if you get really close to them instead (at least the slower ones).

I'm sort of on the downswing of a pendulum right now because it used to be I got up into everyone's faces all the time, then I learned that backing up and using my weapon's range got me better results on average so I started doing that all the time, and now I'm kind of figuring out the situations in which that's actually not the case and learning how to tailor my approaches better to what I'm dealing with.

(Though this is also heavily enabled by the fact that my visual processing of the game has only sort of recently gotten sharp enough that in fast-paced fights I can actually interpret which weapon I am going up against a lot of the time instead of it just being a vague blurry smudge, lol)
zones is interesting because I have a very specific strength(reef cheese) and I can kinda structure a lot of what I do around when we need that. I have time to pay attention to what's going on while I am trying to get special and arrive at the location I need to use it from at the same time while also monitoring if my team will be ready to follow up on it or if I just need to go for it regardless and etc...
Y'all ever have those games that feel like they've been going on for 20 minutes

yeah thats usually the point where i need to sit back and actually try and look at why im playing bad instead of trying to brute force playing good. sometimes its too hard to think about that though so coming back later or after a water break or something can be a good idea too.

I guess like it's not just painful games, it's games in which so much is happening and you're so aware of the clock if feels like time slows way down. like it's amazing how many fights can happen in the last minute of a game where you have a 1-point lead you only got on a fluke and are just absolutely fighting for your life to hang on to it til time runs out

you know everything AND have time powers??

anyway yeah so much can happen so quickly in this game its very cool and interesting
    …and stressful at times
also there is no such thing as a fluke! even if its only a 1 point you did enough to get there still and sometimes thats all you need
but yeah the intensity of trying to keep that can be unreal
it's fantastic that my confidence is higher on average than it used to be but it's still so volatile and when it drops it feels like I'm dropping soooo much further than I used to.

Doing my best to reframe it as an understandable side-effect of things getting better on the whole. And it's nothing that won't pass with enough water and blueberries and music.

Don't forget to take breaks! A lot of the time when I get down on myself for playing badly it's because 1 i actually am playing worse because I'm tired (mentally) and 2 I'm too tired to have great control of my emotions.

Of course it's not always because of tiredness and there has to be some acceptance of the fact that no one is always perfect but... just don't forget you can take a break if you need to.
WHY ARE MY REACTION TIMES SO GOOD RIGHT NOW WHY AM I GETTING AWAY WITH ABSURDLY RECKLESS PLAYS WHAT IS THIS

It's funny how I was just like "well I'm kinda tired but let me just get a few games in before I have to get on the road" and then I'm randomly just absolutely on point for no reason whatsoever

Nice! Do you think anything external might be helping? Like if you drank more water today, are in a different mental state than usual in any way, got an especially good night of sleep etc

@DzNutsKong hmm I did eat better than usual now that I think of it. but it's also possible I just went into it really relaxed, too
