There just needs to be a squid party mode in 3.0 or Spla2n so everyone can stop yelling because they dislike the way that the game is being played

*silently backs out of thread*
I actually had suggested that in the Bad Splatoon Suggestions thread, but now that I think about it... *Smile creeps across face*
WOOOOOMMMYYYY (Sorry guys, I had to ;-;)

The condescension at the end of yer post was pretty rude, but thanks for the post, got what I wanted to say across without my sass =p

Just to throw in a blurb to make myself feel better, 15 seconds of two squids partying about at the beginning of your ranked match and then proceeding to play the game by the rules isn't going to kill the match or your evening (on its own). Hey, the ONE time I managed to get an enemy squid to do that with me(out of about... 15 tries? I dunno, I don't count <_>) MADE my evening and I went on a win streak promptly afterwards.

The fact that most people will always outright shoot me whenever I (RARELY, key word that was missed on my last post) try this in ranked is what makes it so special, and is a big reason why I'll never forget it.
My goal is not to prove anyone wrong here, because everyone who is saying an excess of squid partying is wrong, is RIGHT (and honestly, would you listen to me saying its amazing? I've clawed my way to S rank and I still die to accidentally walking into killer wails, not noticing inkstrikes on top of my head due to minimap look, and regularly falling off the tower during the calm after an enemy team wipe. I'm S rank, I swear on my hydra ^_^;;)

Squid partying is much less effective than simply throwing out a "booyah/nice!" which is why I think its much more valuable.
You can easily throw out a booyah during a fire fight to send some quick praise to a teammate who just shot someone trying to flank you. BUTT if you can send some bloops while still being amazing at shooting(or atleast staying alive), that is skill right thar I tell ya hwat (don't think so? try it, it's hard) and your compliment gains much more weight.(obviously be careful about accidentally offending the opposing squid if they see you on kill cam)
And yeah, that whole thing about connecting with people overseas that Galacta said. Es kewl 2 doo mang.

I mainly want to prove that it may seem insignificant to you, but please understand it can make a big difference for the morale of some of your teammates.
And please, keep shooting the guys that go overboard with it. At the very least, it makes turf wars interesting eh? =P

Sincerely(NO sarcasm in this, I mean it), the blooping idiot GreenWaffles =)

Let's see.... I'm selfish for having fun. I'm a troll for having fun. I'm a bad person for having fun. What else can we throw in? :) I think this thread has already established that joking around isn't allowed in Splatoon anymore apparently. x) It's not that hard to switch lobbies. It literally takes two clicks to change lobbies... Or I guess three since you have to click down. My point is that it really isn't quite the big deal people are making it out to be. No one has to change lobbies. Feel free to stay in the same lobby. Feel free to change lobbies for any reason at all. No one is going to care whether a player stays or goes. Most don't even remember the people they just played with.
You are the only person in this thread who's basically stated that they don't give a damn what others think. Yeah, by definition that's selfish. Even GirigiriHERO is hearing people out and they're party enemy number one in this thread.

Say what you like about us, but your "carefree" attitude is starting to come off as pretty dang unpleasant.

Oh! I realized a bit late my wording wasn't really the greatest... I tend to use a bit of harsh language at times to get my point across, but i'm realizing how that's rude and I shouldn't have worded it like that, thanks for pointing out my slipup there! (I went back and fixed it to be safe.)

Edit: my opinion's easily changed from then though and I really think partying is best to stay in private matches, though.

I'm just looking for someone to give me a valid reason for partying in public that can't be refuted, which I have yet to find.
Oh! OH! mememe! I'm down for arguing!
(although I'm heading out for weekly shopping, I'll be back on tonight, if you're willing to wait 8+ hours)

PS: np Galacta, s'all good

…So I suppose my cinnamon troll Inkling who would exploit squid partying for her gain(or team's gain, she usually doesn't like bringing down a team because of her)would not be liked here XD
(She would also probably use @Airi 's technique when she actually shows up in ranked. She's very lazy :P)

I know I backed out but just wanted a confirmation of this XD

Wait, like in character or how you actually play?
Because I kinda don't like the idea of using squid partying to kill people. It still seems pretty inconsiderate in my books.

No, not a character I play as. (I plan on her having a Hydra or something, and I can't use those things XD) A fictional character, an OC. She's Agent 4 in my headcanon, and best friends with Agent 3(who got pulled in by her cinnamon roll-ness before she knew what happened). She's a jerk sometimes, but does have a heart somewhere.

She finds it to be a useful and dirty tactic in Ranked. But she doesn't employ it often, because she's usually half-asleep on her perch. (She's very capable but also sleeps a lot so yeah *shrugs* Is prolly a front to get people to let their guard down before she strikes. That's basically her in a nutshell)

Well I've been called ignorant, selfish, a troll, and implied I'm a bad person so... I think it's safe to say that she'd be very well disliked for trying to have any sort of fun outside of the normal 'serious business' mode. :P

XD Well, she's a Glass Inkling for a reason
(Glass Squids can turn invisible. That pairing up with her troll-ness was coincidental, but I'm glad it worked out XD)

Whatever your OC wants to do in your fan fics or whatever is fine, because it doesn't affect anyone in game and it's probably amusing to read.

@Green Waffles I thought your post was very well thought out and worded. I for one love giving out Booyah's when my team does and I often do it right at the beginning of the match as well to get everyone going. I'll always reply to a team mate giving a Booyah as well. I feel this is a good way to make friends and stand together as a team. I feel it's a good way to overcome cultural barriers during a match.

If you have a reason for why you personally think SQ is okay and doesn't bother other people in a public Turf War battle I'll be more than happy to hear you out, I just honestly don't think it exists. As stated previously though, my posts are not referring to people who jump around for 15 seconds then play. Sure it's a mild annoyance, but if that's what gets them going, then so be it. My beef is mainly with the people who do it the entire match and put their team at a handicap.

@Airi I honestly don't think anyone has said you're a bad person in real life for something you do that's a nuisance in a game, however if you want to feel that way so be it. If Squid Partying is "having fun" that would imply you don't find the actual game of Turf Wars itself fun. If the game isn't fun without making up ways of not playing it, perhaps you shouldn't be playing Splatoon at all.

Oh! Another cool thing about partying in private matches over partying on someone's turf war match is the fact you can:
- set your maps as I realized in another post
- put it to ranked mode for longer time and ranked colors! I like the ranked colors more anyways.

But I have a quick question, where on this forum would be the best place to start a thread so that people can add others that want to party in private battles?

in Turf Wars, i feel that squid parties have a deeper meaning than just flopping about with some people you don't know. i'm sentimental, but hear me out.

squid partying brings me back to reality a bit. even though i can read every players' name, even though i can see they're obviously players, sometimes it's really hard to recognize that when you're playing competitively. but squid parties remind me that we are all just people who bought Splatoon because it looked fun, and it is fun. we want to have a good time, whatever route we take. it reminds me that my teammates are conscious people, my enemies are conscious people, IM a conscious person. we're all united by our mutual love for Splatoon, and that's most important to me. i feel something very personal when people start partying with me, they want to have fun and they want me to have fun with them, i can't really hate anyone for that.

super mushy but overthinking things is fun. i don't want to be angry at everyone all the time, especially as i'm getting into the competitive scene. it brings me back down to earth, tells me i'm not all that and a bag of chips, and provides relief from the stress competitive brings me.

on that note, though, i have never EVER faced the volume of partiers that you two have. even months ago, they were super rare. i've never had one in solo ranked. i think you guys might just be REALLY unlucky <:s

It could depend on the person, because I whenever I find a team with good syngergy and we do a good job (even if we lose) I'm like "damn, these are good players" I never once lose focus that they are people. I also feel that's where the Booyahs and Come Ons come in to play as it's a form of communication with them.

Took longer for me to get back on here, got home and passing out was too tempting for me ;P

Anyways, I don't think I can add much more to my previous point, but I'll try. I'll also elaborate a bit for people lurking ;p

Squid blooping(NOT bagging, same technique but different application) and by extension, squid parties are just a more button intensive booyah.
One of the two nights I went out to deliberately start a momentary squid moosh with someone on the opposite team was after some really bad losses(It was 100%, no doubt, 85% lag's fault. I remember some people shooting bullets out of their back and then turning to face me buteyedyegress)
After I got an opposing carbon roller to flop about for 10 seconds(both of our teammates shot us down before I hit my 15 second goal xD) I could laugh a bit and acknowledging that at least the guys on the other teams those lost games had a good time. That saintly carbon man from japan gave me a nice pat on the back, a kind of "win or lose, we're still (kinda?) pals." The blooping did miles more than me simply starting to win again.

Basically, any point during a match were you think "well gee, there isn't anything worthwhile to do" is an appropriate for a little squid party dabbling in ranked. While every second(or square inch of turf, in turf wars) can count, I think that this should only apply to tournaments, were status means more(though not by much =p but that's another debate entirely) just playing through ranked games at home only affects a letter on your screen and who you get matched up with in random games. Is the difference that much more important than helping another person have a little better a night?

A little bit off the very start of a match, during your kraken/bubbler if no one but the other opposing squid who also activated his kraken/bubbler is arou)nd, or just as you are about to be knocked out and there is an absolute 0% chance of you being able to do ANYTHING(I've won games with suicide last minute jumps to the tower just as my teammate on it was about to die, so utmost discretion should be used for this last point) are when I think its A-o.k. to bloop a bit.
Anytime else? Not so much. Your fellow squids might always enjoy a good party, but they might also be straight up shoot-to-kill squids.( I think a lot of us kinda flip between the two ^_^;; )

Splatoon Comraderie FTW

BONUS POINT, about only squid parties in private rooms. These are fun, but for me the novelty wears off quite fast, so having a seperate channel to do it takes away a bit of the magic. Could you imagine malls/ other public places having "designated flash mob areas". Definately turns off a lot of the thrill (lele, I just described sitting in my living room and pressing the same button on a game controller for three minutes straight as "thrilling" xD)

BONUS BONUS POINT
Happy 4th of July from California =p

Personally, I think selfishness is being underrated in this thread.

I never start squid parties, but if I see a teammate or an OPPONENT do it, then yeah, I'll give them attention and do it too.
(I do always try to get 400p either way.)

I dunno how selfish I can be if I'm entertaining an opponent who is partying by joining in. That's selfless, actually.

Yeah.
The only time I tried to start a squid party was some time ago on a weekend where I introduced my friend to squid partying and suggested that we would try in a public lobby (cause public squid parties are magical) XD it didn't work, but don't worry, we were productive outside of that.

I keep on coming back here. Oops XD

I only ever tried to star them on maps I didn't like, but know I kinda really try not to start them since I think it's rude to the people that are actually playing the game. If you have friends you want to party with, I agree with girigiri now and keep it in private battles. Plus, you can choose maps and use ranked colors if you want.

we were productive outside of that.
That's good at least. If parties don't work then it's best to play normally.

The only time I squid party is when something absolutely bizarre happens, like when someone breaks the game bizarre.
